I've been using Prime for quite a while now and it seems to be working out for me. When I first started out with my tanks I was using "Jungle" water conditioner and it seemed to do it's job but I wanted something more "top of the line" if you will. I didn't make the switch because I thought the "Jungle" product was inferior but I just wanted the "best" for my fish. I started researching about the best water conditioner and everyone kept raving about "Prime" they would talk about how affordable it was and the benefits that came from using this product. It seemed like the best choice for me so I made the switch I did notice that the stuff is very strong and concentrated so it doesn't take much to treat your water. As far as dosing Prime you just need to follow the instructions on the back of the bottle. I'm usually careful when I dose with Prime because of it's potency so when I prepare my water in a 5 gallon bucket I usually dose 2 drops per gallon. The reason I do it this way is because I don't want to overdose on Prime I rather be safe than sorry. With that said when I first started dosing with Prime I would dose it straight into the bucket of water. Then I would siphon the water into my tank without letting the water age. I started noticing that every time after I did a water change my fish would start gulping for air at the surface. I started reading certain threads and some people stated that in some cases too much Prime can cause oxygen depletion. Seachem has stated that you can overdose Prime about 5x the recommended dosage and it still would be safe for fish. I personally wouldn't take the risk especially if you don't have proper aeration in your tank.Read more ›

Does everything it says. I have no chlorine but my well water has metals. I use it to condition my water. Had a little cloudiness when I first set up (new tank syndrome) but the addition of Prime cleared it up. The choice of hobbyist and professional.

Pretty much the gold standard for dechlorinator. Added benefit of detoxifying ammonia. Note, it is only detoxified for 24-48 hours. It is not removed, it is made harmless to fish. I currently do daily dosing to be safe. Bacteria and plants can still use it in the detoxified state, so it does not stall a nitrogen cycle. Emergency nitrite dosing is also a great feature, but do not depend on that to save your fish during the cycle. Do a fishless cycle, do it right.

This stuff really works! It does have a small foul odor to it, but it dissipates soon enough. It only takes a day or two for this stuff to work it's magic on high levels of Ammonia and such. My water is crystal clear and my African Cichlids are happy. Two thumbs up!

I bought this to condition water for my triops hobby, but I had to do some math to figure out how much I needed.
Turns out it's 2 drops per gallon of water.

Luckily I had a spare dropper bottle.

my tap water is so horrible, I wouldn't drink it if I didn't have to spend money and leave the house to buy water that won't slowly kill me.

Add some prime, and boom my water is safe to breathe.

Nitrite or ammonia spike? Add prime, and BOOM, my fish aren't breathing toxic chemicals.

My local pet supply buddies really rave about this product.
I had to see it for myself and I will buy no other product as it is superb.
Every time I do my bi-monthly water changes I simply add a capful and run it through the filter after I have added the fresh new h2o and replaced the cartridge. It does everything and has yet to let me down.
I made a mistake in the beginning of setup of my 20 gal tank a few years ago because my fish were dying like crazy-but it may have been that I did not cycle the tank as well as I should have then, but now I have a nice collection of fish that are living la dulce vida !
They are goldfish and you know that with them you have to stay on top of things like waste buildup!
I agree, it does smell like perm solution when you pour it into the cap, but it contains ingredients that attack ammonia so that is to be expected.
Get this product-you will not be disappointed!

This product is amazing. I use it in my 75 gallon goldfish tank, 45 gallon guppy tank, and my 10 gallon tank with my betta fish. We use well water and have a problem with heavy metals. This works wonders for that issue. I use it for every water change and during emergency spikes due to large drops of fry along with frequent water changes. Have had healthy and long lived fishes and hold this product partly responsible for that success!
