Excellent detective story!, September 21, 1999

I bought this book after seeing the PBS special (with Helen Mirren) while taking a college course on Crime and Punishment in Modern England. The book is every bit as satisfying as the BBC show. Not only has Inspector Tennyson put up with a bunch of junk to be promoted to her current position- in the worst part of town, according to the police- but now that she's the boss, she still has to deal with broo-ha-ha from her under- and overlings. Ever persistent, she knows when to smell a rat and when not to yell at her detectives. I had a hard time putting this book down, so read it over a weekend just in case you have the same dilemma!

I've read this novel and I liked it so much... it was really interesting to the extent that I finished reading it within just three days... I am not saying this because I am one of Lynda La Plante's big fans, but because the story is worth it... to those who are fond of the full-of-twists and surprises stories, it'll satisfy you...
