4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps you hot!
I'll admit some of the other reviewers were right: there's no real plot and the characters' actions dun make sense. But its really a great beach read.
:) But I'm biased cuz I'm a sucker for jealous lovers.

I can tell this is an early work for SB. The characters are not as well developed, and a lot of attention to detail is missed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Sandra Brown I have read yet., November 2, 2005

I'm wondering how Brown has the ability to write great novels such as WHITE HOT or SUNNY CHANDLER'S RETURN and then waste her time and efforts on PRIME TIME which was so lame. Not one aspect of Prime Time was developed. The characters lacked depth, the plot itself was thin and boring, and the dialogue was cliche and predictable.

I wouldn't even recommend this book to die-hard Brown fans.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth reading unless you are into verbal abuse and sex., February 14, 2009

I have read some great books that Sandra Brown has written, but this definitely was not one of them. It was totally unbelievable to me. The macho man was so verbally abusive from the minute he met the heroine and yet she kept jumping into bed with him...she just couldn't help herself according to the author. He alternated between verbal abuse and everything was wonderful, but didn't trust her at all. So in the end when everything was wonderful again and they were to marry, why would anyone believe he wouldn't revert to being the abuser again. It is a typical pattern that an abuser is sorry and promises it will not happen again, and then it does. Yet, in this book, the author wants you to believe that they will live happily after. It makes you ashamed that a woman wrote such drivel. Why would anyone want to make it appear that verbal abuse is acceptable. I would have been "out the door" the first time. This one is in the garbage. I hope she will stick to writing mysteries and leave romance alone in the future.

2.0 out of 5 stars Prime Time Should Air Late At Night!, May 13, 2005
This review is from: Prime Time (Mass Market Paperback)
PRIME TIME was originally published under the pseudonym of Rachel Ryan.

This is a story about a TV reporter, Andrea Malone who wants a network job. She's sure an interview with a retired US General in Texas will get that job for her if she can reveal his reason for the self-imposed seclusion. The only thing she has trouble with is his son, Lyon Ratiff. The anger, suspicion and uneasiness leads to love. Wow, does anything not lead to love with Sandra Brown?

PRIME TIME has a good story line, but nothing surprising in the plot line. The characters are strong but not as developed as they could be. If more depth were given to the characters, it may have led to a few twists and turns that were unexpected and would keep the reader on the edge of his/her seat!. Don't change your schedule to fit this book in, just use it to stop gaps in your schedule and you'll be happy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Had more potential - but overall okay story, December 2, 2008

What a great story line, but certainly one that's been done before. Though, I believe this book is a reprint of a book that was originally published in the early 80's. Andi, a TV reporter going for the impossible interview. Lyon is the son the the interviewee that Andi would like to interview. Lyon is protective over his military father and resents Andi's presence. He's a very bitter and hostile person.

Both have had previous marriages with cheating spouses and have distorted views about relationships. Of course, there's immediate attraction. Lyon treats Andi down right mean and rude, so I really found the connection between the 2 of them less believable than it should have been. The hositility from Lyon was played a little over the top, so it was hard to get past.

Overall, it's still not a bad read, very fast and quite light. Joyce Bean does an amazing job on the audio version of the book. (though Ms. Bean is one of my favorite readers and I tend to select books that she narrates)

4.0 out of 5 stars MACHO MAN, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Prime Time (Audible Audio Edition)
It seems like I always have a better opinion of the hero. I think Lyon was completely justified in being upset at Andi's response to Les. They had just spent the night together and she goes running down the stairs into Les's arms--after assuring Lyon that they were JUST friends. Maybe he went a little overboard after his father's death, but I liked him. He's a man's man and capable of a great deal of tenderness. I don't think he's a bad choice and I believe his suspicians are DONE.

Since this was written early in Sandra Brown's career, it wasn't developed as well but it had the same ability to hold your interest waiting to see what happens on the next page. I agree with another reviewer--Joyce Bean is excellent. She makes the story come alive.

The story line was just great. Sandra really knows how to keep you in suspense of what's going to happen next. The characters were believeable and the romance was hot.
