This review is from: A Primer on Modern Themes in Free Market Economics and Policy (Paperback)
This book was primarily written for translation into Spanish, and it is used a lot in Chile. The idea was to combine summaries of established thinking and some novel ideas along with a compendium of long quotations from important scholars. That way, non-English speakers would have better access to the original writers of the principal ideas of market economics. The book places emphasis on the areas of public choice, Austrian economics, law and economics, and public policy, with a critical perspective of interventionism and socialism. Basically, the reader will find much theoretical support for why the market economy is the preferred model and why government failure is such a tragedy. Free market solutions are also provided in areas such as environmentalism and banking. For the professor, this text can be the basis of a "dream" course that introduces all of the aforementioned themes in a non-mathematical way that provides access not only to people in economics, but also in law, political science, theology, and MBA programs.
