This book together with the first book: A Book of Earth Skills from the same author, will show you nearly everything you need to know on primitive technology.
Buy the " Naked into the Wilderness" books written by the McPhersons as well and your library on the subject is complete.
No better books available then these four!!

I recently purchased Primitive Tech. and Primitive Tech II as a set. The information found in these books are priceless! These two books alone could keep you busy this life time and into the next. A great foundation of resourses into learning to live with the land and the resourses that are found around you. Just the historical aspect of the books are worth a read!

I work in the outdoor education and primitive technology field and can personally account for the quality instruction offered by many of the authors in this work. I am a contributing writer to the Bulletin of Primitive Technology and am proud to be a part of the preservation and proliferation of ancient skills and wisdom. Less for the "survival situation" -- though certainly important! -- and moreso for the honest self-reflection found within the integrity of these arts, I recommend the study of earthskills.

I liked the book so much, I checked out the Society of Primitive Technology web site and joined. Great stuff!

The Primitive Technology books, one and two, are a must for anyone interested in the studies of primitive living. Packed with information and history, no other books quite like them. Highly recommended!

This is a really good book. Want to make a bow, well it will show you. I made one and it works good. Want to get in touch with your inner indain, get this book and try it out. YOU SHOULD LIKE IT, AND IT IS FUN!!

The book is based on individual essays on various topics. Each topic is explored by a different " Expert". Many of these skills are in danger of being forgotten, so for this alone its a good book. What really needs to be considered by the compiler is new info, with new photography and updated , clear instructions. Many skills here, such as Brain tanning and stone tools, to name a few, are quite good. There are a few selections that are a bit foggy in their rendition.Its a good reference book anyway for taking with you when outdoors to learn...one at a time. Many folks buy these kind of books thinking they can just turn to page 84 and learn at a glance, some hard won skill. Not so...These all take a lot of practice and hard work. Try fire making first, shelters,food gathering and storage. These are essential. Learning one skill...well, over a summer; even several will take you a long way. Remember to lower your standards to SURVIVAL. Its generally not pretty, but you do gain one day...then another and also you gain the courage to try and the experience to succeed. Enjoy learning what our ancestors had to learn...or die!

This book outlines many primitive technologies in a way that is detailed, accurate, and easy to understand. The book is composed of sections from various authors and many sections have spelling errors, but that does not take away from the quality of the information. This is a great book. More people need to read this and practice these technologies so that this knowledge is not lost.

Excellent resource for primitive skills. Great articles written by knowledgable individuals. Already had PT I and hope there is a PTIII soon.

I got this book to learn how to survive and live in the wilderness. To be honest other than making a bow which is so complicated and tanning deer hide, I didnt learn anything. It didnt go into any depth on any survival skills. Dont waste your money if you want to learn anything. This book is for people who already have a basic skill..
