I have tried several inexpensive game cameras, kept this one. I like the easy setup using dedicated switches instead of software function programing. Specs calls for trigger at 30 feet max range. The night photos are not well illuminated beyond 10 feet from camera. The daylight shots are fantastic. I was happy with this unit and needed another camera, so I upgraded to the Primos Truth cam 46. It cost more money and performance was not as good as Truth cam 35. Sent the Truth cam 46 back and ordered another Truth Cam 35. Happy with both Truth Cams 35. The video mode does eat up SD card space so I switched over to the 5 shot photo feature with 1 second delay between shots. uses a lot less card space and sharp photos. By the way the specs say 8 GB (SD HC MAX SIZE) My two Truth cams 35 accepted 16 GB SDHC and seems to work fine. I would have given the camera 5 stars, but the distance of the night photos beyond 10 feet were a little disapointing.

Great Value,

I have several scouting cameras from a variety of manufacturers. My favorite is by far the Reconyx, but I just can't shell out that kind of money if I want more cameras. As much as I love that camera, I almost wish I had taken that money and bought 8 Truth Cams so I could cover more ground. Almost. Right now, I think this is the best value of any of the cameras I have.
For the money this is a great camera. It easily performs as well as some $200 cameras out there. My Reconyx takes better night pictures, and more of them, but I also spent a lot more money on that camera, almost 10x more. Some pictures are a little blurry at night if the deer are moving fast, but it's really not that bad. You can still clearly make out the number of points on the antlers unlike the Moultrie camera that I have which just shows a white blur. Daytime photos are awesome. Couple of things to be aware of: If you put it in the woods with a heavy overhead canopy, you will occasionally get white out photos. This camera is much better suited for more open areas such as fields or food plots. When I put it on the edge of a field, I do not get white outs. Also, if you do place it in thicker cover, don't set the sensitivity on high. You'll get lots of great pictures of trees. Every time a branch moves it will go off. Nighttime flash range is much better in open areas as well. I've had it out in the field now for 2 weeks. It's already taken over 500 photos and the battery is at 98%. I'm using industrial D-Cell batteries that I special ordered so I expect them to last longer so take that with a grain of salt. I can't give it 5 stars though. A Reconyx is a 5 star camera. This is not a Reconyx. Compared to one of those it's probably a 2 or 3 star camera at best. However, considering the performance/price ratio, it gets a 4. It is NOT the best camera out there, but it IS the best camera if you're on a tight budget.

Purchased this item thru Amazon. As soon as it arrived I took it out and mounted it in the woods.
The first 3 days I got 180 pictures of deer and turkeys. I have had it out for about 3 weeks now with hundreds of pictures (day and night) and it still has 85% of its battery life left. Which is 4 D batteries. Will be buying more of these. Very easy to use and set up.

This review is from: Primos Truth Cam 35 Camera (Sports)
I purchased the Primos Truth Cam 35 on 9-11-2010. It was simple to setup. I placed it in the field on 09-26-10, and set it to take 3 photos every minute. I retrieved the camera from the field on 10-03-10. It took 6,542 photos (day and night) of deer, ferrel hogs, squirrels, and racoons on an 8GB SD card, with 70% battery life remaining. Of these photos very very few were of small game. There were hardly any blank photos, if any. The night time IR photos were clear, except some blur did occur on some of the photos, if the game was moving during the shot. The wildlife did not seem to mind the night IR LED's. I did not notice where it ever startled them, though sometmes they would look directly at the red LED's. A few photos were a little dark during the transition time between dark and light in the morning and between light and dark in the evening, but this was minimal, maybe 2-3 minutes worth. Overall the picture quality was very good, however the daytime pictures were all mono-chrome (not in color). I emailed Primos with a sample photo and they told me the camera was faulty and that it needed to be replaced. The Amazon transaction was seemless and smooth. Amazon sent me another Truth Cam 35 even before they received my return. I tested out the replacement just to be sure that it worked correctly before I place it in the field. It worked great and the outside daytime pictures were in color like they should be. The daytime colors seem really good. I'm looking forward to getting the camera back into the field this weekend, so I can get some really great color photos of the wildlife. I would recommend the Truth Cam 35 and I would buy it again.

New SD Cards Are Full???,

This review is from: Primos Truth Cam 35 Camera (Sports)
Bought the camera and received it quickly as always with Amazon. Bought a new Kingston 4GB SD card to use in it at the same time. I unpacked it, put in the batteries and SD card, and tried the camera out in my yard. Took 8 great pictures, so I placed it aside until the weekend, when my wife and I took the camera, jumped in the truck, and took an 80 mile one way trip to our hunting property to place the camera. When we got to the food plot we had prepared for the camera, I placed it on the tree, and turned it on-------and got an "SDFUL" on the screen. I knew it wasn't, but tried a spare SD card anyway---same thing. Took the camera 80 miles back home, tried two more SD card of different brands---one 8GB and one 2 GB--and all registered full. Cards were reformatted in my computer, but got same results. The Truth Camera would not reformat the cards. If this is Primos quality, I don't need it. However, I contacted Amazon, and got their usual great service. I am fair minded and decided to have another camera sent to me in exchange. Surely I won't have the same luck twice. In any case, I will review the second camera as well, hopefully with a better result.

Cons: I have had a little bit of trouble downloading all of my pictures. I generally go to my camera and just swipe out memory cards. I then use my digital camera to download them onto my computer. About every other picture my software indicates that I have an unrecognizable format and it will not bring the pictures up to a full view. I can however see them in the preview screen of all the photos. I have noticed that the pictures which are indicated as unrecognizable format have a white out area in place of where the moon phase, time and date should be. This is not a major problem since I can still see the photos in a smaller preview of all the photos together. However it is aggervating. I have not noticed any other reviews stating this as a problem so it could be my software. I dont believe it is though since I can clearly see the white out area in the bottom of the screen where the time and date should be.
The only other complaint that I have is nicht pictures are not as good as I was hoping for. I see photos of deer on the review page of amazon which appear to be 20-30 yards away and the pictures appear clear. I however have noticed that any deer outside of 10 yards is blurry and it is very difficult to make out how big the deer actually is. Pros: I have only had the camera out since the first of december. It has been pretty cold here in southern Illinois and the battery life still shows 60%. I think this is pretty damn good considering the wheather. I am hoping that in the warmer months it will last for months at a time. The day time photos I have are fantastic. Crystal Clear out 50 yards and beyond. I say beyond because 50 yards is the furthest I have had a deer away from the camera. I thought it was pretty impressive that the cameras sensor picked the deer up and it was also a crystal clear image. I have tested the trigger time in my house and in the woods. It is lightning fast at room temp.(less than a second) I have noticed that the cold wheater seems to slow it down a little bit but it still seems pretty fast.(less than 2 seconds) Once agian I think this is pretty impressive for the cold wheather. The click everyone talks about is not very noticable and it has not spooked any deer thus far. I have not used the video mode so I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the mode. I plan on purchasing a couple of more of these cameras since they appear to be dirt cheap compared to others on the market.

so far so good,

Comparing the primos 35 trail cam to another one I had prior to this one is hands down a lot better. I like the strap with cam buckles for attaching it to a tree. There are brass threads in the back for additional security or mounting hardware. There is also holes in the back for threading a cable lock. So far it is working great. The 35 leds are far better than 12 or 18. Infrared is great because there is no flash that goes off. The primos 35 I purchased does not have the loud shutter clunk as some previous reviewers have stated. Primos must have fixed the clunk. Mine has a slight shutter sound but not near enough to alert any animal. I have only had it out in the woods a short time but so far it is working great. My daughter and I enjoy going out to check for pictures. I think primos did a good job with the camera and price. I dont think you can find a better quality camera for this price. I found more of an in depth review at chasinggame.com

Saw lots of good reviews on this camera, so I figured I would grab one and try it out. I also have a Moultrie I65R unit. I currently have the Primos Truth Cam 35 set up in a site in South Texas. The field of view is in a narrow area, so I set the cam up close. When I set it back further, it senses cows, hogs, etc that are further in the background and are useless images for me.
Image quality is set to high, and with an 8G SD card, that yields roughly 8,000 images. Usually in a week I'll get 600-1500, depending on traffic and there is an animal on every frame. It is important that there are no small branches or other moving obstacles that may "false trigger" the cam. Pictures are clear, clean and bright during the day, infrared images look great at night, no question as to what you are looking at. Battery life is great, This unit uses 4 D-cell batteries. With this camera taking pics 24/7, these 4 batteries yield about 4 weeks worth of life before the they need to be swapped. Definately worth every penny.

First trail cam purchased/used AFTER a lot of research ..USE-on 1-2 acre open food plots so trigger time is not quite a critical as one a few feet off of a travel lane BOUGHT MORE-I bought 2 TC35's for my 2 main plots ...they have been in service for over a 6 weeks ...set on picture,10 second interval and 3 shots per event I have one camera I am removing 2-300 pictures every 4-5 days and on the other one 4-800 ...the first over clover, second over turnups/rape ...so already 1000's of pics and battery life is at 75% on the heavy use and 85% on the slower one ...pic quality is great or certainly good enough to determine deer quality such as an astounding number of button bucks, fighting big bucks etc ...bought a third one a month after the first two for my corn field ...used copper top duracel on the first two and evererady on the 3rd one which is producing 1-150/4days and it's battery life is already down to 75% ...so until I change the #3 cam batteries to duracelI cannot say duracel for sure but beware! ...for the $$ and my use these cam's are proven winners ...life span I cannot say ...one last point on trigger speed ...it will catch a running deer ..example...with deer at 30 foot distance ,running left to right,1st frame of three deer is right of center, second frame deer is on right hand edge, third frame empty ...walking as in a fast traveling deer ...again left to right ...first frame deer on left, second centered, third on left ...walking or grazing deer appear on the side they enter from ...one last concern ...shutter noise when taking a pic ...yes it is there ...now if I can figure out how to keep the deer from licking the camera! [slight pull of your leg there] the deer acknowledge it, sort of unsteady, quickly learn to ignore, but it does aleart me to NEW deer as to how they react ...regulars keep feeding, big mature bucks more stand offish and new deer unsteady but then graze ...I have actually had a six point buck get face to face ..like a foot or two checking it out ...good luck!

This product was suggested by an officer at my local police department in an effort to help fight petty vandalizimg occuring in my neighborhood. Not being a hunter, I looked at multiple websites, reading reviews from those who were in a better position to judge the quality of a game camera. This Primos Truth Cam 35 appeared to be the easiest to operate and received very good reviews on every website on which it was offered. Amazon's price was the least expensive and able to ship overnight. The Primos.com website provided a setup video, which was easy to follow. It took longer to decide where to place the camera than it did to get it operational. Daytime photos were as good as a digital camera with very good color and clarity. I was pleased to see there was no bright flash at night when a photo was taken, but the panel of red lights that were activated anytime the infra-red beam was broken by objects within 40 feet of the camera made it easy for two-legged night creatures to spot and a more obscure hiding place needed to be found. The camera took black and white photos of vehicles and creatures at night that were much farther away than 40 feet. While they were in the frame, they were captured too far from the center of the photo, making it impossible to make out detail needed for an identification. Any object captured within the recommended 40 feet certainly was recognizable at night. I'm going to reposition the camera so the red night flash panel is visible in an effort to thrawt would-be trouble makers. I've used a black, plastic coated heavy wire bicycle key lock to secure the camera to a large tree in direct view of the house. Primos offers a metal lock box on Amazon for this camera, which actual hunters would probably find useful when placing this camera out in the woods for long periods of time. The websites advertising this camera state it takes a 8GB SD card, but these cameras now can take up to a 36GB SD card. I've only had this camera for two days, so cannot comment on the battery life, but it's possible the short battery life on first use commented on by others is because the internal battery that maintains the correct time and date setting initially uses the 4 D-Cell batteries provided by the purchaser to charge-up the internal battery. This is an excellent camera for those looking for an inexpensive way to provide additional property security. I'm sure hunters would also be pleased with this camera, especially since Primos gives a one-year warranty. Can't go wrong for the price.
