Makes great coffee - Just don't put in the dishwasher!,

This worked great and I was very very happy until someone accidently ran it through the dishwasher. It came with instructions not to do this, but not everyone read them. Unfortunately, the finish was greatly diminished by dishwashing. Otherwise, a great product.

I got this from Ross. I wanted to get another one but Ross no longer carries it. The silly thing is I didn't notice the Primula brand printed on the black handle..I ended up buying bialetti because it looked preety much similar to Primula and soon I found out it was mistake!! Bialetti is just fine but the coffee keeps seeping through..which I don't find it with Primula..I highly recommend this product.

I love this product. Unfortunately the one I got from Specialty Gourmet Goodies was not a "Primula". Apparently the American importer of Primula products has decided to sell cheap Chinese knock offs under the primula name. Specialty claims said importer assured them that it was the same product but in different packaging. All "primula" products are made in their Venezuelan factory, are of very high quality, and bear several identifying marks. The one I received said Made in China on the box, was of low quality, and bore no marks. I'm not sure if it is a supply problem, ex.- trade sanctions on leftist Venezuela; or more demand than supply, or if it is a money thing, cheap labor=larger profit margin. Be careful when buying this product. If you don't know any better, well then you probably won't tell the difference. But if your serious about your coffee, Demand that the "Primula" name is on the aluminum!!!

My new friend,

I've been using the little ($40) 4 "cup" Mr. Coffee espresso makers for almost 10 years now. I'm on #2 in the household but as the seals are just starting to give out, I've started shopping for a replacement. But I'm torn... do I go with old trusty like I've had or go for something a little fancier/bigger as I do use it almost every day? I like the 4 cup option, so I can whip up lattes for my Honey and I quickly without running two cycles when he wants one too.
While waiting for my espresso beans to grind at the local coffee place, the Primula 3 "cup" espresso maker caught my eye... again. I've looked at it, touched it and never taken it home... until now. I kind of justified it as a temporary respite for Mr. Coffee so he doesn't completely die while I waffle over a replacement. This little guy is my new best friend! With regards to capacity, that'd be my reason for 4 stars. I used Mr. Coffee to measure the usual 2 "cups" that I turn into a latte and that's what the Primula holds. So, it's a 2 "cup" in my book. My only other dilemma was getting the seal out to clean it. A wooden toothpick run under the rim quickly fixed that issue. Cleaning is quick and easy other that the wet puck. I'm going to let it sit for the day on the counter and see if it's any less messy to dispose of after I get home. Personally, I also like the taste of the espresso better than from Mr. Coffee. I don't think it has the "bite" that Mr. Coffee exudes and I don't feel like I need as much milk/Int'l delight in my lattee to have the flavor I'm after so this little guy is saving me a few calories too.

I've purchased two of these at my local kitchen shop in the last two weeks, and each has failed for different reasons. The first worked for a week, then stopped channeling hot water through the filter--you'd open the top, and there'd be nothing there. The store owner couldn't have been nicer, and gave me another, thinking there was probably something wrong with the seal. This morning's attempt yielded a melted handle--and this was over a low flame. I'm off to buy a Moka via Amazon this time.

I was delighted to find a stove top espresso maker on Amazon. I was surprised I had to throw away the first batch of coffee, but I did as instructed and the second batch was delicious. The electric makers concern me, I have no desire to blow myself up. I know, I should not feel that way, but I do and stove top is for me.

This says it makes three cups but it only makes about 2 1/4. The bottom part that holds the water is rusty already after 2 weeks. Nothing special, it makes expresso.
