The Coop's MCA Years,
By Brent Evans (Rockhampton, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prince of Darkness (Audio CD)
The time that Alice Cooper spent with record label MCA was once of recovering lost ground and reclaiming his position as King of Shock Rock.He recorded two albums(CONSTRICTOR,RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL)and staged two killer tours to support them;sounding heavier than any album since WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE.PRINCE OF DARKNESS is an excellent summation of this period.Guitarist muscleman Kane Roberts was an excellent foil for Alice during the MCA years;the proof of this can be heard on tracks like FREEDOM, PRINCE OF DARKNESS,and TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN.I have only two gripes with this album:1)electro-drums on some of the tracks;and 2)the abscence of such tracks as NOT THAT KINDA LOVE,CHOP CHOP CHOP/GAIL,THE GREAT AMERICAN SUCCESS STORY,and GIVE THE RADIO BACK.All in all,a good album if you want to start of with a general overview of the "comeback" years.

Underrated Alice!,
By David Woodruff (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews

Alice's performance is nothing short of powerful--it's seriously sick rock at its best. Alice manages to imprint his nightmarish signature mark in an album that is clearly underrated. He absolutely ROCKS in this album!

Missed opportunity,

Not having all the tracks of the MCA years I wonder why it has been released. MCA should have put Constrictor and Raise Your Fist And Yell and The Billion Dollar Live Track (all together only 70 minutes) on this cd. Then it has been really worth buying. But if you want 40 minutes of straight hard rock this is the album to buy.

If you want to just let loose and jam, this is a good album to get. The songs on this album are basically the best songs from his two M.C.A. albums,( constrictor, and raise your fist and yell). No ballads here,(isn't that great).

Best of Constrictor/Raise Your Fist Album,

If you don't have the Cooper metal albums you may want to check this out. Cooper has had better material than this but it's pretty good. I prefer Fist to Constrictor personally. There is however a fine live version of Billion Dollar Babies. If you already own Constrictor/RYFAY this isn't really necessary but RYFAY is becoming hard to find so you may be interested.

This album is fairly good and a worthwhile buy. It has several good songs and is definitely worth this online price.

Unlike any other Alice, and not in a good way.,
By ken "kenmacf" (Columbus, OH United States) - See all my reviews

Fans of either the "classic" Alice Cooper (Billion Dollar Babies, School's Out) or the newer stuff (Trash, Last Temptation) should consider leaving this selection on the shelf. It's watered-down, overproduced (lots of sythnesizers and electronic drums), and lacking much of the edge and wit present on just about any other Alice album.

rip-off, both albums fit onto 1 disc, why do it this way?,
By Micheal Hunt (Hellbourne) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prince of Darkness (Audio CD)
This album combines the Raise Your Fist and Constrictor albums of the mid to late 80's. I'd recomend you buy those 2 albums on there own rather then this rip-off. I call it a rip off because I know for a fact that all the tracks from both Raise Your Fist and Constrictor fit onto the same 80 minute CD and still have room left for a bonus track or 2!
So instead of picking out a random few off each album, they should have combined the two complete albums and put them on this and maybe included "Hard Rock Summer in the USA", "Be Crool To Your Skool" or "Under My Wheels (Feat. Guns N Roses), "I got a line or you" or even one of the alternate versions of "He's back"

Where can I find a copy of Raise Your Fist!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Prince of Darkness (Audio CD)
This conpilation album combines Constictor and Raise Your Fist And Yell, the two "comeback" albums Alice did with Kane Roberts for RCA records in the mid 80s after kicking his drinking habits. In the end, however, this mix has too much from Constrictor and not enough from Raise Your Fist. I still want to know where the hell Hard Rock Summer, another Cooper/Roberts tune done at the same time went. This albim is better than Constrictor, but not by much. With the exception of The World Needs Guts, this one has everything from Constrictor you would ever want to hear. But do we REALLY need to hear Thrill My Gorrila again !
