4.0 out of 5 stars Relive the movie
The music on this soundtrack is inspiring and enjoyable. I love soundtracks as I can relive great movies. If you enjoyed the musical "Prince of Egypt" you will love this soundtrack CD. This is not for you if you don't like musicals!

3.0 out of 5 stars Black gospel was needed, but cumbersome
I really liked the dc Talk re-do of the Rich Mullins song "My Deliverer". It gives me goosebumps almost everytime I listen to it, and I've owned it for quite a while. Jars of Clay and Carman weren't bad either. I enjoed them too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for Everyone, March 25, 2000
This review is from: The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational (Audio CD)
Unlike many albums that have one stand-out hit song and the rest is all filler, this album has many songs that could be considered the album's best. You can tell by all the reviewers that have different picks for best song. True, if you don't like certain styles (i.e. gospel, rap, Christian rock,) you might not like the whole thing. However, if you want an eclectic, diverse mix of Christian artists on one album, get this. Personally, my favs are Destiny, Let Go, Let God, Let My People Go, and My Deliverer. (The DC Talk cover of My Deliverer is awesome although make sure to get The Jesus Record too for the Rich Mullins and Ragamuffins versions too.) This is a very uplifting, positive album with great music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everyone's entitled to an opinion..., April 12, 2004
This review is from: The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational (Audio CD)
I believe that only "true" music lovers could appreciate this work. Most people get ensnared in the box of their own preferred selections. I suppose we all do sometime. Nonetheless, I found the entire work enjoyable. I'm a little disappointed of others views concerning the interludes. For me, I found all three segments of the interludes to be heavenly majestic. It actually gave me a desire to worship. However, that's just me. Overall, great performance by all of the artists...

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspired Songs That Should Been the Original Sountrack, May 26, 2003

This review is from: The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational (Audio CD)
This is one of the best versions of "The Prince of Egypt" soundtrack. Since it's not the original soundtrack for the movie but ought to be. All these songs are so right on! When you got Take 6, CeCe Winans, Trin-I-Tee, Christian, Brian McKnight, Jars of Clay, dcTalk and Shirley Caesar. This is some of the best R&B, Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian on the album. It's fitting that each song follows the story of Moses from his 'Destiny' (sung by Take 6). From the time he was hidden from the Pharoah decree and set upon 'The River' (sung by CeCe Winans) by his mother to save him. God was with Moses from his time in Egypt as the Prince and to his journey into the Desert to meet His God and deliver His People from slavery. Moses would say, 'As Long As You're With Me' (sung by Trin-I-Tee). Didn't God say What He'd do? He said, 'Didn't I' (sung by Christian). The rythym and the harmonies keep you swingin' to the beat. From the uplifting melodies and the spirit-filled hymns. This isn't dull or ever slow. Not your run-of-the-mill stuff. The Most High Interludes are very traditional. Believe me this is one inspirational album that won't gather dust. for country music lovers there is a Nashville version of this soundtrack. Only one thing missing on this album is if they only added the signature song, 'When You Believe' by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey from the original soundtrack. Guess I'm wishing too much :).

Had high expectations after reading other reviews. Listen before you buy this one--especially if you don't prefer Gospel music.

In my humble opinion, this CD is excellent. Since the theme of the movie was the life of Moses, to me as a christian, it was very emotional to listen to every song that was inspired by the movie. I Love it. I do recomend it. Every song, every verse, every word, excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD, featuring various types of Gospel music., January 11, 1999
This review is from: The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational (Audio CD)
Excellent CD that captured my attention from the moment I first heard it. I had not been acquainted with Christian nor Tri-ni-tee 5:7 before, but will look to listen to their music elsewhere. This is so powerful that I wonder why it was not the Soundtrack for the movie!Excellent! A must have for believers, as well as to witness to others!

4.0 out of 5 stars dcTalk among top recording artists on inspirational sndtrck, December 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational (Audio CD)
The inspirational soundtrack for "The Prince of Egypt" features a tandem of christian artists and otherwise singing songs for the new movie. The best song probably being dcTalk's "My Deliverer" I have heard the original motion picture soundtrack and i'd have to say the inspirational soundtrack is much better also featuring the debut platinum selling group Jars of Clay. To top off this brilliant recording effort, Boyz to Men also has a song on the soundtrack. It's a great cd and a definite must buy for fans of christian and pop music.
