This review is from: The Prince and His Lady: The Love Story of the Duke of Kent and Madame de St Laurent (Hardcover)
I became interested in the story of the Duke of Kent's life with his Courtesan, Julie St. Laurent after seeing the movie 'Young Victoria' The Duke of Kent was Victoria's father.
I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia where the Prince and his Lady lived for five years in the late 1790's. There are still souvenirs of their stay in Halifax (his Band Stand - The Town Clock - the Martello Tower) and as a child I had picnics at the Heart Shaped Lake at Prince's Lodge. In addition, I am in the possession of a table purported to have belonged to the Duke of Kent when he was in Halifax. (It has always been referred to in my family as 'The Duke of Kent table.' I am anxious to have it authenticated. I was so happy to receive a copy of The Prince and His Lady, which obviously is out of print and thank Amazon so much for providing it for me. Ethel Hall |
