This is a superb book. Dr. Glynn Redworth managed to weave the facts of this historical event in a most intriguing style. I had a great deal of difficulty putting this book down. Indeed, if all history were written in this manner it would make reading it far more interesting. I'm looking forward to his next book. Brilliant!

I had to read this book for a upper division college class. It is a very specific topic and time period, however, for the length and detail of the book, it is quick and entertaining to read. Lots of pictures and primary source excerpts spice up the narrative. Some prior understanding of early modern English history is still highly recommended to get the most out of the text.
