4.0 out of 5 stars Back to Sleep
Ordered the bear for my son, he was having a hard time sleeping in his own room during the first few weeks we put him in his crib. The bear helped with the transition from his co-sleeper in our room into his crib in his room. I slept with the bear and the blanket for several nights to transfer my smell to them. We bought this version in addition to the original Prince Lionheart Slumber Bear because we wanted to make use of the feature which plays multiple sounds, but we were very dissapointed in the multisound audio box. Ordered the bear for my son, he was having a hard time sleeping in his own room during the first few weeks we put him in his crib. The bear helped with the transition from his co-sleeper in our room into his crib in his room. I slept with the bear and the blanket for several nights to transfer my smell to them. We also recorded both my husband's and my voices on the recorder shushing and soothing the baby. We washed the bear and the blanket when we received them because they both had fuzz and strings on them. I actually washed the blanket twice to try to get all of the fuzz off of them. When they came out of the package they had a slightly chemical smell that came off when we washed them.

3.0 out of 5 stars No better than original, October 15, 2010
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Back to Sleep Bear, Brown (Baby Product)
We bought this version in addition to the original Prince Lionheart Slumber Bear because we wanted to make use of the feature which plays multiple sounds, but we were very dissapointed in the multisound audio box. True, you can record your voice for 20 seconds... however in order for the infant to hear your recorded message an adult has to press a small button on the front of the box any and every time you wish to play your message. If you fumble with taking the box out of the bear, it is very easy to erase the message by accidently pressing a similarly small button on the side of the box. Noise or shaking activates the box, but it always only reverts to playing womb sounds no matter which audio sound was the last button pressed. Since the additional features cannot be used independently by an infant, I would spend less money and rely on the original bear instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable for Comforting Sleep Trained Babies, February 28, 2010

MM (los angeles) - See all my reviews

I have 2 children - the first I bought the Slumber Bear Plus for because he was such a poor sleeper and it didn't help massively but he was about 6 months old when we introduced it to him so I think it was just too late - our second child had the slumber bear plus and the Back to Sleep Bear (which is the newer version) from birth - she relies on it completely - it stopped her crying when she was newborn and now that she is now almost 1 it helps her to resettle herself when she wakes in the night which spares us from the middle of the night stumble to the nursery to 'shush' her. I don't think it will work for every child but in combination with sleep training I do think it really gives comfort to a small baby who needs reassurance to relax into sleep. We are about to buy our 3rd because the sound boxes do become rather temperamental as they age but considering the amount of use ours get and the results they provide I really don't mind at all. Indispensable.

The product itself is very good, however they sent an used product with a damage box. The recording device even included a record from the previous owner when I purchased this product directly from the company.

It claims it's motion activated so if baby moves it the noise will start again....this is untrue my husband and I had to pretty much hit this damn thing to get it to make noise.
My baby only liked it for the first 1 and half weeks after that it just became another toy. I went to go give it away to a friend to find that the sound box is broken.
Not worth it if you ask me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly good, but could live without it., January 20, 2010
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Back to Sleep Bear, Brown (Baby Product)
The bear itself if not, perhaps, the highest quality construction, but overall we were well pleased when we unwrapped this item. The bear is soft, the little blanket quite cute. The actual noise-maker is quality, and I appreciate that you can adjust the volume easily. The pre-recorded sounds are much higher quality, in my opinion, than the standard pre-recorded noises you would imagine on a sleep machine. The recordable option is nice as well, and very easy to use.

My husband and my only objection to this product: the way the bear looks. I hope I'm not offensive but this bear does not look sleepy as much as it looks stoned (my husband and I had quite the laughing fit over it). We actually nicknamed it "creepy bear"! I have kept the blanket, and the noise-maker, but put it in a hand puppet we have... and I sent the bear to a charity! But that is such a personal preference thing: we simply didn't care for the way the bear looked.

My baby is now 5 months old and this items seems to work sometime, and of course, doesn't other times (when she's hungry or needs changing). Could we live without it? Yes. Would I get it again if I had to do it over? Probably.
