My daughter definitely prefers warm wipes and in that respect we love this warmer. No more "startled baby" from using cold wipes. And it's true, we haven't had a brown wipe yet.

However I have one complaint. We've found the only wipes that work with the "pop up" feature are the pampers wipes. We got lots of huggies wipes refills for our shower and they wont "pop up"...

Okay, honestly, with all those baby items out there I thought that this one was really "over the top" and didn't think to put it on my registry. Well, my little guy had a hard time keeping warm when he was born and definitely hated cold wipes so off to Babies r us went my husband the first day we were home. Oh, what a Godsend this thing is! Now, regarding the browning of the wipes, DON'T put an entire pack of wipes in the unit. Just put about 1/3 of the package in and seal up the remaining wipes in the bag (if using pampers, buy huggies first and reuse their resealable bag), or just use a ziploc. That way, they don't brown, they get warmer TONS faster, they don't dry out, and everyone is happier. I have found that Pampers have a tendency to dry out faster than huggies if you put in a bunch at a time, but other than that, I love this thing! Mine has been operational for almost 3 years now, nonstop and still going. I think this thing is a definite must for every little baby.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it, only one negative for me, March 22, 2004

I have two of these in my house (one for each floor), and I couldn't live w/o them. They keep the wipes a nice temperature--I took the advice of other users and placed this on a coated wire rack (almost like a small, white-coated cookie cooling rack--you typically put these in a cupboard to create shelves to put cans on, etc). I found a tall but tiny latex-coated rack at Target for less than $5 and the warmer fits PERFECTLY on top. I keep them on the changing table (painted wood) and have had no problems w/ heat or water "ruining" my table. And the little shelf looks great (doesn't muck up image of the room if you get the right size) under it. And you don't have to have the pop=up wipes, since you can just as easily open the large lid as you can open the pop-up lid. Great all around. Only negative for me is that the bottom few wipes tend to smell stagnant when you get down to the bottom, no matter how fast you go thru a box of wipes and regardless of how well you wash that little moisture pad at the bottom. I've even tried scented wipes, but those last 10 or so just smell less than rosy. So I toss 'em. Not enough of a negative to keep me from loving this product!

1.0 out of 5 stars top doesn't stay shut, February 14, 2005
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer (Baby Product)
My husband bought this warmer when our daughter was born. He also bought one by DEX (Target sells them and Walmart used to), not the travel one they sell here, but the full size one. Both warmed the wipes well enough, but I found the top of the Prince Lion Heart one didn't like to stay closed after a few months of using it (daughter is now 12 wks old). The DEX just lifts ups and so you don't have to worry about latches wearing out. I just bought another DEX brand warmer after the lid to the Prince Lion Heart one kept popping up on me and wouldn't stay shut. The plastic latch eventually wears out, so although it's a good idea in theory, in reality it just doesn't hold up. Also, I've found that I like the design of the DEX one better...the wipes warm from the top down, so you don't have to worry about an "Ever Fresh" pad to change at the bottom. And it just makes more sense to warm from the top instead of the bottom--you use the wipes from the top of the container, not the bottom, so who cares if the bottom of the pile of wipes is warm? As you use the wipes, the air in the container stays warm and keeps the wipes warm all the way to the last one in the container. The browning that people are talking about--I think I know what it is since the Ever Fresh pad that I have in mine is turning brown, even though I change it more often than what the manufacturers suggest and I use filtered water to moisten it instead of tap water. It still turns brown. Another reason I chose to buy another DEX warmer--no pads to buy! It's just another thing to spend more money on and with 4 children, I don't have that luxury! Definitely go with the DEX Baby Products wipe warmer rather than this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars You might be surprised at the difference it makes, July 22, 2004

Before buying this wipes warmer, I wasn't sure if we really "needed" one. But when I saw the reaction our newborn was having to cold wipes, I knew that it wouldn't hurt to try. Now I am happy that we did try it. I don't see the same reaction any more, so it seems to be helpful (even on a 100 degree California summer day).

This particular model seems to have a small problem with the latch on the pop-up lid. About every third time or so, it does not latch properly, and the lid pops back up. But with just the right touch, I eventually get it to latch. This seems to be the main brand on the market, so I would know any other to recommend.

The wipes do cool down fairly quick, so you need to use them immediately after removing them from the dispenser. This makes sense though, since you wouldn't want them to get so warm that they are hot to the touch.

I give it 4 stars. If it weren't for the latch problem, I might give it 5. A useful, optional item that is worth trying. You might find the same results as I did.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of yeast!, July 21, 2006
By
Tina L. "new mommy" (Winston-Salem, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer (Baby Product)
We bought a warmer when our baby was about 3 months old, since winter was approaching. A few days after we started using it, she broke out with a vicious diaper rash, which turned out to be yeast. (We treated it with Lotrimin -- the foot fungus/jock itch cream.)

A friend happened to ask "How's the baby," so I casually mentioned the rash. The first thing she said was, "You don't have a wipes warmer, do you?!" She then told me of other mothers who warned her to never use one, because of the propensity to grow bacteria in the warm wet environment. (It's the bacteria that throw off the baby's balance, allowing the yeast to grow unchecked.)

So, after owning this product for only a week, we threw it directly in the trash. Our baby is 10 months old now and we have not had a problem since. Be warned!

5.0 out of 5 stars great for cloth diapering, July 18, 2007

If you are using cloth wipes, this is a wonderful way to keep your wipes moist and soft. My husband and I love this product for our cloth wipes. They fit perfectly (Green Mountain Diapers brand), and are just so easy and convenient. It's great to throw the used ones into the cloth diaper bin and launder all together. I have trouble finding the replacement pads though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Babies love warm wipes!, September 16, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer (Baby Product)
This seems like an extra you can do without, and in a pinch or super tight budget..yeah, I'd agree. But it is really nice to have, especially with newborns who tend to be particularly sensitive to cold. We have not had a problem with the wipes drying out and we've been using it for 7 months now. Just be sure to wet the pad enough and it will get you through a whole package of wipes before getting too dry. Also, be sure to buy wipes that are "pop-up" wipes, otherwise you can't use the top lid on this where the wipes automatically come out, you have to open the whole thing up each time, which takes away from the convenience factor. Pampers brand work great, they're all "pop-up" style..but Huggies come in both a non pop-up variety and a pop-up so you have to be careful. Buy the right wipes, make sure you wet the pad well enough and this little luxury item is excellent.

1.0 out of 5 stars Warm/moist environment= infection??, July 15, 2005
By
Casper (Westbrook, CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer (Baby Product)
My 2 other children survived just fine without this, but I decided to try it for our new baby after friends said they liked it and it received fairly positive reviews. It seemed o.k. at first, although we learned that only the pop-up style wipes will work in it unless you want to lift the entire lid each time which causes the water in the lid to drip out. Our baby developed a severe urinary tract infection that she was hospitalized for. Of course no one can be sure that the wipe warmer was really the culprit, but it just made us wonder....warm, moist environment that sits for an extended period of time.?. To be on the safe side, we have unplugged ours and returned it to the store. It gave the staff at the hospital something to think about when we mentioned it and at least one of them was going to begin further research. My sister lives out of state and recently brought home preemie twins. Upon discharge when the nurses were going over avoiding infections they noted that they hoped she did not own a wipe warmer. Of course many babies have had no infection and they have a wipe warmer, it is just an interesting possibility to consider. Something you and baby can live without? Definitely.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit indulgent but not a complete waste, May 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer (Baby Product)
Have been using this product for about two weeks. So far the only problem I have had is the wipes do not stay warm for very long after taking them out of the warmer. But I have learned to be quick and the warm wipes are definitely a source of comfort to the baby.
