Fast forward a little to the switch to cloth diaper/wipes. FORGET about that sponge. This wipes warmer is PERFECT for cloth wipes. I have used it WITHOUT THE SPONGE for years...literally, the same one for years. The top didn't close properly a few years ago, I let Prince Lionheart know, and they sent me a replacement cover for free...Three years later, we are still going strong. The wipes are OK, but that's not what I wanted to review. I make my own wipes (which I sell on etsy) and I know most on the market are superior to these ones provided.
Our routine, which works great; Supplies: Homemade 8"x8" wipes (ours are two sided fleece/flannel or two sided minky dot,) any number of solutions (I am a fan of Dr. Bronner's and a little olive oil with lots of water) poured over the wipes just enough to moisten them all (usually about 8 ounces of solution.) I used to roll the wipes, as shown in the picture, but that got old quick, so I (more accurately, my four-year-old) fold(s) the wipes in half and place them stacked one on top of another. On weekends (Friday- Monday) we go through a whole warmer's worth, and I have never had any issue with mold, mildew, or anything else in that time frame.Read more ›
The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is the obnoxious "night light" that glows from the front. The thing is SO bright that we have to keep it covered at night. I keep meaning to get electrical tape or something to cover it because it's so glaring.
As other reviewers have commented, the bamboo wipes that Prince Lionheart makes are garbage. They fray almost immediately. We use the flannel/terry wipes from Green Mountain. I make a solution of filtered water, witch hazel and Kissaluvs Diaper Lotion Potion, Concentrate in a bowl. Then I plunge the wipes in and roll them one at a time, squeezing the excess water out at the end before popping them in the warmer. The warmer holds about 20 at a time, which will get me through 2 days or so. Then I wipe out the warmer and make a new batch.
We have not had any issues with mold and only scorched the pad once when I let it get dry (oops!). The anti-microbial pad is an important part of controlling mold spores, so do not take the other reviewer's advice and throw it away! You need to use it and replace it every so often.
I might add that all things diaper-related are easier when you fully commit to cloth, rather than just doing the wipes. You only need one bin at the changing station, laundry is quick and easy, and your baby's bottom is all around happier! Green Mountain has tons more info on their site, which I highly recommend.

Works great! I use my Bumgenius flannel wipes in it without the sponge. My only complaint is that the heart on the outside is actually a light, and it's quite bright. Read morePublished 10 hours ago by VLB

I use this with my cloth wipes, and I'm very happy with it. I don't use the pillow thing. I DO use previously boiled water (which I allow to cool before putting in the warmer)--the... Read morePublished 22 days ago by RBB

The wipes don't get as warm as I'd like them but this is okay. The other thing I don't like is that when you lift the lid the condensation pools to the back of the lid and leaves... Read morePublished 29 days ago by BBuysThings

We used to just run the wipes under hot water to warm them up, and saw our water bill shoot way up. First month with this and it paid for itself. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Ryan B.
