Great new family- appropriate Musical Show: Exceptional Cast,
By
This review is from: The Prince and the Pauper (2002 Off-Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
Last June I had opportunity to take in this show at the Lamb Theatre Off-Broadway, and it was delightful! The cast was exceptional, and I was pleased to hear the same cast on this recording. The songs are catchy. I purchased 2 CD's for my children, and now I'm going to need to buy a third copy: all 3 love the music (ages 12, 9, and 6). Neil Berg has done a superb job with the music. i've listened countless times, so we can ping along on nearly all the songs. If you like family musicals, you'll love "The Prince and the Pauper". And if you make it to NYC, look for a comeback of the show at the Lamb Theatre. Look for their news of the show.

A delightful and catchy score. With fantastic vocals by the adults and three incredibly gifted children, this is a must have for any musical theatre collector. "Twilight", "Thrill of Adventure", "If I Were You", "Simple Boy", and "Is This Love", just to name a few, are some of the most vibrant and catchy songs you'll likely to hear on or off Broadway.

Off-Broadway delight,

I'm so pleased that Prince and the Pauper has released a cast album. The play is a treat sure to satisfy everyone, from young children to their grandparents. The young performers in particular are amazingly talented, and Broadway vets like Rita Harvey and Rob Evan lend the show extra distinction. Neil Berg's music is irresistably "hummable," and Miles Hendon, played by Rob Evan, has 2 huge solos. I especially loved the second one, "Twilight." It's a song that really ought to be heard outside of the theater--I think it could easily become another "This is the moment." Buy this CD NOW, and go to the Lamb's Theater to see the show when it reopens in March. You won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed listening to The Prince and the Pauper. I thought the music catchy with good tempos and interesting mix of styles. Too many musicals today get bogged down in dirgey recitative instead of letting the spoken word get the message across and thereby letting the music do its true job. Neil Berg has a good sense of melody and can turn out a good tune. I would like to hear the score orchestrated fully as this would give a sumptuousness to a very good score. Collectors will love this show.

This review is from: The Prince and the Pauper (2002 Off-Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
I was the pauper in the world premiere of The Prince and The Pauper(the first one hour version) at Helen Hays Theater in Nyack, New York. It was such an amazing show...the music was so amazing! The CD is worth buying i bought it a year ago and i still listen to it. I saw the show off-broadway w/ Gerard Canonico and Dennis Michael Hall about 3 years ago and it was amazing. To bad it didnt make it to broadway...I GIVE THE CD 5 out of 5 stars...one of the best things i bought on here!
