5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing game soundtrack, November 27, 2010

This review is from: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Original Game Soundtrack) (MP3 Download)
This is a rousing orchestral soundtrack with substantial themes and inventive arrangements. It has the sweeping heroic tone and also enough of exotic flavor and instrumentation to identify its Persian roots. I especially enjoyed the combination of modern percussion, ethnic instruments, choirs and epic brass themes. This video game score sounds definitely like a Hollywood film in its distinctive sound and power. I think it's the best I've heard in years. Bravo to composers Steve Jablonsky and Penka Kouneva for composing a score that has passion, heart and leaves an indelible memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb ethnic orchestral soundtrack..., December 3, 2010
This review is from: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Original Game Soundtrack) (MP3 Download)
Composers Steve Jablonsky and Penka Kouneva have created a truly exemplary score for the latest Prince of Persia video game. The music brilliantly combines traditional orchestral magic with ethnic percussion and electronic textures. The themes are memorable and bold and the orchestral performances are spirited. I can only hope that Jablonsky and Kouneva continue to collaborate in the future because the result is an enjoyable and refreshing work. I highly recommend everyone enjoy this soundtrack, you won't be disappointed. Bravo!

4.0 out of 5 stars This PRINCE's music delivers!, November 27, 2010
This review is from: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Original Game Soundtrack) (MP3 Download)
The Main Theme by Jablonsky is absolutely beautiful and epic. It
captures the feeling as if the Prince is saving his kingdom, and
perhaps the world! The remaining score is richly layered in themes
and arrangements and the feeling is urgent and heroic. It features
heavy percussion, gorgeous brass melodies and breathtaking choral
verses. It feels like a blend of Hollywood sweeping scoring and
eastern tunes and colors. Truly cinematic !

This review is from: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Original Game Soundtrack) (MP3 Download)
Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time opened earlier this summer and featured an immensly entertaining score from Harry Gregson-Williams. I was surprised to find out that Steve Jablonsky would be doing the next installment in the video game series titled Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

Now, Steve Jablonsky's style is widely known and his video game work is as well. With Prince Of Persia Jablonsky gives us a fantastic epic score. Don't expect anything similar to what Harry did with the film. While both scores have cultural influences this score definitely sounds like Jablonsky. It's really interesting to listen to them one after the other because you get to experience two different takes on similar source material.

Jablonsky shared scoring duties with Penka Kouneva who has been Jablonsky's orchestrator for quite some time. In fact she's quite a well known orchestrator working on films like Transformers, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, and Angels & Demons.

The score is lush and thematic and brings a grand feel to the game. While it can get one dimensional at times it still manages to maintain your interest in the story and within the music.
