If you liked any of the prince of persia games, you'll like this one. Its awesome, everything youd expect from the prince, on the go. As Im sure you've seen before, its more fighting than platform jumping/environmental puzzles compared to Sands of Time, but its still there, and its still awesome. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good game, poor performance
Slightly more than a year ago, I wrote a review on Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. I didn't like that game then. Bad Prince. Bad music. Too much blood, gore and corny dialogues. If you liked any of the prince of persia games, you'll like this one. Its awesome, everything youd expect from the prince, on the go. As Im sure you've seen before, its more fighting than platform jumping/environmental puzzles compared to Sands of Time, but its still there, and its still awesome. If you've already played Warrior within, I would wait for the price to atleast drop or buy a used one or something if you really want it on your PSP, but from what Ive heard its the same game with a little bonus material.

The music does skip while theres alot going on, but who cares, I could do without godsmack for a few seconds. Also, the environments are dark, which means glare if its bright outside, so Id suggest a screen protector, seems to cut back on glare, and protects your screen.

I loved sands of time, and now I love this, I actually recently got my hands on a copy of the new 2 thrones for my pc, I despise the controls on it, its clearly made for the PS, but it is definately the best Prince yet, so check that out after you beat this.

Oh and if your having trouble with the 1st boss, try the X(towards enemy) and then Square Square, if Im not mistaken, it tells you to do that on screen while fighting her, and its just about the only move you can land without leaving an opening for her to rock your face.

This review is from: Prince of Persia: Revelations (Video Game)
Slightly more than a year ago, I wrote a review on Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. I didn't like that game then. Bad Prince. Bad music. Too much blood, gore and corny dialogues. Fast foward to the present day, I've completed Warrior Within for the third time on the PS2, and I've grown to appreciate the game better, mainly due to its plot. The Back to the Future-style time-travelling tale just grows on me, and I didn't "hate" the game so much.

Which is why I decided to pick up Prince of Persia: Revelations. It's essentially the same Warrior Within game, although Ubisoft has decided to prolong its already long gameplay hours to even longer, by including exclusive puzzle levels previously not seen in Warrior Within. This is godsend for Prince of Persia fans, since we somehow never get enough of running along walls, swinging from bar to bar, and, oh, taking out a lot of enemies with free-form fighting. These additional levels are extremely tough as well, and will give even hardcore Prince of Persia junkies a stern challenge.

Revealing the brilliance of the game's plot would be a major spoiler, so I'll just say that, if it's too confusing earlier on, it'll all begin to make sense towards the end. Unfortunately, for all my acceptance of the game, the hardware issues bugging many PSP games continue to be a major issue for Revelations. Insanely long loading time. Frequent drop in frame rate. Difficulty in controlling the camera angle (which requires you to hold the L1 button while rotating your left analog - a bit silly). Game continuously loading when you're in the midst of solving a puzzle. You know, that sort of thing. These really take out a lot of joy from playing the game. The platforming could be great. The fighting could be enjoyable. But they all didn't work so well because of the PSP's limitations.

Thankfully, at least the game is good to look at. Even though the graphics are rather dated, they appear very sharp on the PSP screen, which further demonstrates the power of the machine. The audios are also loud enough, although I don't really like Godsmack. It just takes away the feel from the series, but I've been complaining about this for over a year now, so I'm just gonna shut up.

So, where does that leave Revelations? A good game, still, but a slightly torrid playing experience due to some technical issues. It's probably too difficult a game for the casual gamer, and it's certainly not recommend for playing on the burst because of its intensity. I'd recommend this only to seasoned Prince of Persia fans.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tremendously Disappointing, March 15, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Prince of Persia: Revelations (Video Game)
I loved the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but never played Warrior Within. I was looking forward to this game with great expectations. However, what I discovered was a mess of bugs, and load screens that broke up the flow of the game at nearly every turn.

The game, I knew, was combat heavy. For the most part that works well, though gets tremendously repetative. But there are flaws in the programming which trap you in areas you cannot get out of. I was personally stuck on a pole and the only move I could make was to let go and die. Load screens appear in the middle of corridors, during jumps! How can you possibly play a game that's loading while you're about to avoid a trap?

Lastly overall load times are abyssmal. It takes nearly 10 minutes to start up the game. When on the battery powered PSP, this is time I don't want wasted with a loading screen.

Graphics are good, not great, and the sound transfer seems pretty solid. But the gameplay repetitiveness and poor design of the program itself make this a hesitant buy. Only get it if you're really into the Prince of Persia series. And then if you can handle all the problems.

This game would be great if it weren't for the flaws. The game crashes all the time, loads right during the middle of a jump or when you're going across traps, and often times the prince gets stuck in or around a wall. One time I even kept falling through the floor when I'd get to a certain point. After about four or five times falling through, the floor was fine. Wow, what an amazing piece of programming! Also, why do they even bother coding the characters with lip movements during their dialogs? The speech is way off the audio.

The puzzles can be fun, and the freestyle combat is fun (although it gets to be monotonous when you find out the tricks). The gameplay certainly lasts a long time, especially when it freezes all the time, and you have to go back and redo everything you got through.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prince did it again, January 11, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Prince of Persia: Revelations (Video Game)
I've been palyin' Prince's differnt game now for years and Revelations was the best one so far. Sands of Time and The Warrior Within were also good but in this it is outta the limits. Specially considering it's a mobile game it has fasinating graphics and the atmosphere seems greater in every different chapter. Specially "The Helping Hand" was absolutely amazing. I can recommend you easily to buy one.

3.0 out of 5 stars buggy! VERY buggy!, September 16, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Prince of Persia: Revelations (Video Game)
Being a prince of persia fan since the first dos version, i bought this game without a second thought. 5 minutes into the game i realized it is the WORST PSP GAME so far. Instead of making a game for the psp, they only chopped "Prince of Persia: Warrior within" (part 2) and placed it in a UMD. During the game your sound (SPECIALLY MUSIC) will constantly go off for several seconds at a time. Loading sucks too, a good deal 15-20 seconds for the middle levels. They should've gone with "Sands of time" as the first psp release but what the hey.
Good news is that gameplay is pretty much same if not better. Camera control is pretty decent, you can fix it however you want and it really helps when you are outnumbered. Other then that "IT IS WARRIOR WITHIN" so unless you have not played it on the xbox, ps2 or pc before OR you really like prince of persia series like me, I would not recommend that you buy this. Get it on some other console.

3.0 out of 5 stars unfortunate, to say the least, May 7, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Prince of Persia: Revelations (Video Game)
Prince of Persia - Revelations

Ubisoft has taken Prince of Persia The Warrior Within and reduced it for the PSP. When it was released (in late 2005), it was one of the better games for the console, since all other games were terrible anyway. Now things are different, but this review should not compare this game to recent classics.

The graphical transition from higher end consoles & PC to the PSP is superbly done. You get to see all kinds of things the prince can do - and slow motion beheading adds another dimension to graphical quality.

You will be completely disappointed with the sound and controls. The soundtrack is not bad, whenever it is playing, which isn't often. Whenever the in-game loading screens arrive, the sound get brutally cut out. The sound is not synced to action, since voices and effects are delayed or too early.

Controls are also posing a serious problem, since the programmers were a little too ambitious with the kind of moves the prince can do. Actually, that seems to be a plus as well, since there are at least forty kinds of unique attack moves he can do, plus acrobatics. These moves are all nearly controlled by the triangle, square and circle. This makes the game one of button mashing. Worst of all, the camera seems to always be out of the line of action, and you have to manually change that.

The game is nonetheless fun, if not hard at times. You really feel the movement of the prince and his ruthless war against the monsters and other opponents. You seem to die unnecessarily, and, if you are unfamiliar with previous Prince of Persia games from the recent years, you will find this a nuisance. The prince will sometimes jump off a cliff or ledge, or drop down to his death after running for a quarter minute diagonally on a wall. At least this sour point adds unneeded "replay" value and lengthens the missions (sarcasm).

The worst offense maybe that since it isn't such a great game in the first place, aside from looks, the load times are horrid. I anyway suggest you rent POP Revelations, and check it out for yourself. It's a personal preference, and if you like the series, this one may be for you.

GRAPHICS: 8/10 (And you are punished for it in the load times)

SOUND: 2/10 (Sound cuts out often, off sync, weird noises, stops when loading)

CONTROLS: 4/10 (Camera is at odd angles often, cannot make jumps or leaps without dying constantly, repetitive nature of r-pad, which dictates too much)

DIFFICULTY: 7/10 (Why is it hard? You die often for stupid control reasons.)

LOAD TIMES: BEYOND ABYSMAL (Worst load times in the history of PSP games; you might spend five or six minutes to get into the game, over three load screens)

OVERALL: 5/10 (Unfortunately plagued with control, sound and loading issues)

The Product Description first off is totally mis-leading, actually it's completely wrong. I though I was buying a new Prince of Persia game. It's the same exact game as Warrior Within for PS2, except they added in a few puzzles and areas, THANKS FOR THE TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!! Also the camera angles in this game are horrendous and you can't move the camera to a desired angle all the time. Which of course makes avoiding certain traps, figuring out puzzles, fighting etc. extremly difficult. I would not recommend buying this game at all. Not to mention the extremly long loading screen, and the pause to load more of the game in the middle of jumping, avoiding traps etc.
