5.0 out of 5 stars Prince of Power January 8, 2013
By Mich_Mc
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Prince of Power is the second book in the Chronicles of Yavn series, it picks up the plot threads let open in King of Darkness and runs with them. I enjoyed the first installment in the series but this book really blew me away! If you love a fast paced, action packed romance with a strong female and a softer caring male then this is one for you.

Tyra is Thad's older half sister- half-human, half-vampire she's always been a little different from everyone else. She's a trained warrior who relishes in helping others. Her relationship with Anton struck a chord with me as they balance each other out. His strengths are her weaknesses and vice versa. It's nice to see a male knowingly accepting that it's ok for his mate to be stronger than him in some ways and to accept her as she is. Anton surprised me, he's not the ultimate alpha male that you often find in pnr but he has an inner strength and he will fight for what's right. Yes they have issues and many obstacles still to overcome but theirs is a relationship I can see working longterm, they compliment each other well.

I love the fact that it's Vampires against Wizards with the humans being unaware of the war going on around them. The action really heated up in this one and Elisabeth added new dimensions to the story, I feel invested in the characters more now and the little snippets of Lee & Alexia have me on tenterhooks waiting for their story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice addition January 9, 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback
What it's about: Prince of Power is the second book in the Chronicles of Yavn. Wizards and Vampires have always been mortal enemies. Anton (the hero) has a last chance to steal the powers of Tyra (our heroine and a vampiress), but the electrifying chemistry between the two upon meeting has Anton thinking about other things. The two soon find that a connection like theirs can't be ignored, and they must trust one another to put an end to the war.

Why you should read it: I definitely recommend reading the first book in the series, King of Darkness. I liked Prince of Power better than KoD because readers get to know more of a back story on how the war started and what the war was about. I enjoyed KoD but really enjoyed PoP and especially the heroine. Tyra is a Halfling and a butt-kicker, and I love me some strong heroines. If you're in the mood for vampires, wizards, adventure and lust, I'd pick up Prince of Power.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prince of Power January 8, 2013
By Vanessa
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have to admit that my favorite thing about this series thus far is the hero's. Thad nor Anton was the perfect, can fix it all, alpha, mega hero. Anton has some major baggage. He was raised among the wizards and their evil ways. He has never known a loving touch. He has never been a part of a true team. He has never experienced any pleasantries. He does have the heart to know that what the wizards are doing to the vampire race is horrifyingly wrong. Anton has the courage to lead the vampires to the evil that is his father, the Master.

Tyra was one of those heroines that I loved for her bad assery, and then pondered if she had a death wish. She does some insane things all for the aspects of her life that she cares passionately for. Everything she does though is for the most selfless reasons. She cares for her vampire family. She wants them to prosper and defeat the wizards. She has much compassion for the humans at the shelter she works at. She has spent her life as a fighter. She is active in the battle of defending her people for the wizards.

Readers find out so much information about the wizards hate on for vampires. That was my one `huh' from the first book, King of Darkness. From the information that was provided I did not know the `why's' behind this centuries long battle that the vampires and wizards have fought. Wow, the things readers learn about that fight. I am also eager to see where this goes, especially with Anton on team vamp.

I think Xander may just be my favorite vamp of this series. He is dealing with the death of his mate. He is starving himself from the diet of blood that he needs to survive, thrive, and be healthy. He has been removed from his warrior duties until he heals, thus feeds.

3.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing read January 9, 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback
nton has no control over his wizard blood any more than Tyra has control over her vampire/human mixed blood. They were born and raised to be sworn enemies, but sometimes in order for progress to be made, enemies need to become allies. With such strong emotions towards each other it is no surprise that hate can turn to lust, and even more.

Anton's character really touched something deep within me. I turned into a true bleeding heart when I read how he was hunted and almost killed by his wizard family, and viewed as the ultimate enemy by the race of vampires he is trying to save. Especially when you add in his growing feelings for Tyra, a girl who can't trust him, and he seems like the ultimate martyr.

Tyra was a character I had mixed feelings about. I could sympathize with the her internal battle between doing what she was raised to believe was right and what her heart tells her. What I sometimes did not understand is how she can judged Anton so harshly. You would think that she and her fellow vampires would understand his situation better, considering she comes from mixed heritage. They seem so willing to accept humans, succubus and other, yet Anton's wizard blood is something Tyra and her kind cannot look past.

I really enjoyed the conflict between Anton's father and the main characters. I think it really added depth to the story especially since they all seem to have a personal story that either directly or indirectly involved one another. I would have liked to have seen a little more action or build up towards the ultimate conflict, as well as Anton's brothers involvement, but I still remained intrigued and emotionally attached to the storyline.

This story offers a unique view of vampires and wizards that I have not seen anywhere else and was truly entertaining.
