Not all translations are the same, February 29, 2008
This review is from: The Prince (Rethinking the Western Tradition) (Paperback)
For a class we were required to read the translation by Angelo Codevilla which is one of the more expensive translations for what i've seen. There are free translations, which can be found online, but loose some of Machiavelli's language. I have not read anything other then Codevilla's and pieces of a free online source but Codevilla's translation has some benefits. There is a very well written indroduction and chapter on words and power before Machiavelli's The Prince. Also, the footnotes are extremely helpful.
The Prince has some great lessons on power. Difficult language to read at times but has important concepts that everyone should understand.

The ABC of modern politics, November 24, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Prince (Rethinking the Western Tradition) (Paperback)
Maquiavello lived in a time when the winds of change were blowing hard. Putting salt in the wounds of the absolut monarchy and the church also gives to the politician of today a guideline to perform in public and in private. For common people this masterpiece offers the view of the status quo and lifts there understanding to the high espheres of power
