First Class,

This review is from: A Princely Impostor?: The Strange and Universal History of the Kumar of Bhawal (Paperback)
The Prince of a large estate, looks like an European, has syphilis, keeps mistresses and dies twice - all the makings of an Indian Potboiler. Written with authority, wit and empathy, the book manages to both disturb and titillate at the same time. I am not the type to re-read a book, but this work draws me again and again as I savor my favorite passages with relish. It is a must read for Bengalis who have their origins in Bangladesh. It is so good and engrossing that I would be awake till wee hours of morning to read it.JUST SUPERB! |
