2.0 out of 5 stars Just Okay, December 13, 2010

(REAL NAME)
I guess I would have given this book 3 stars had I not read the first book in the Karedes series by Sandra Marton. That prince (and brother to the hero of this book), had complete control of his private life and what he did in it, and chose/proposed to his bride without even notifying the other royals; so the fact that this hero was forced into a pre-arranged engagement, and then into a loveless marriage and couldn't seem to do anything with Holly that Sebastian didn't first approve or dictate, not only made no sense but just made him seem weak.

I need a strong leading man to make these Harlequin books enjoyable...Andreas was not that man.

He was completely under the thumb of his brother Sebastian, and quite frankly, Holly had more gumption and balls than he did.

If you are okay with a weak-willed man, then you will enjoy this book. If not, stay clear, and waste neither the time nor the money on this book.

The only thing that saved this book from being relegated to the one star category was that Holly had so much spunk and drive and smacked Andreas whenever he said something she didn't like.

5.0 out of 5 stars A blackmailed royal wedding, September 10, 2009

This review is from: The Prince's Captive Wife (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
Years earlier Prince Andreas Karedes spent time on a ranch in Australia and fell in love.....madly in love. However, both he and Holly always knew he would leave and return to his duties and eventually to a marriage arranged by his family. A marriage that has now ended in divorce. A marriage which also became a scandal to the royal house of Karedes.

Now his brother and future king has taken the rug out from under his feet by telling him that his affair years ago resulted in a child, a child who died. His brother demands that he have Holly return to their kingdom and that he marry her before there is anymore scandal. He convinces Andreas that a royal marriage will be just what their country needs as the moment.

Holly is realizes that she will soon loose her ranch. Due to events such as her mother leaving, her father grieving and eventually dying, then her son's death, all of it has taken its toll on the family homestead. On top of everything else, she's kidnapped and taken to the man she's never gotten over, the man she's secretly loved. When the plan is presented to her that she needs to marry him to save the family from another scandal she thinks they've all lost their minds. Eventually, when plans are made to restore her homestead and she knows that someday she can return to Australia, she agrees to the wedding.

The Prince's Captive Wife was a very sweet read. Prince Andreas is very royal, he wants his wife not to speak out, to be obedient but in the end, his feelings for her win out. He let's her return to Australia to run her ranch which he as restored to pristine conditions along with a ranch manager, housekeeper and cook, stock everything she could possibly want with the exception of her prince. Marion Lennox's addition to The Royal House of Karedes was a perfect royal read.
