Book Description

A haunted princess chained to a terrifyingly powerful slave, a free man taken from his home and forced into servitude to save her…

Six years ago, Victory’s mind and body were brutally shattered by those she trusted. The betrayal has left her with a closed and tortured heart and an innate fear of the men around her. Her father, a cold, compassionless emperor who rules Victory’s life the same way he has ruled Mercy, has an inhuman solution: Chain her to a massive native man from the war-torn planet that kidnapped her to prove to her there’s nothing to fear. Yet when the huge and gentle native shows himself to be something more than anyone expects, will Victory open her heart and allow this handsome and powerful healer to help her flower, or will she turn him over to the Imperium that hunts him?

Bound to an Imperial princess, their bodies lashed together by a cruel decree, Dragomir is tired of helplessly watching Victory’s past overtake her. He has the power to fix her, and if she doesn’t like it, she can kill him after he is finished. He is a healer—he will mend her broken spirit, or die trying. Yet, in healing her, he must reveal his secret to her, and in doing so, Dragomir must also trust her with his life, for those with his special talents are feared and hunted by the Imperium. What Dragomir doesn’t foresee at the outset is his own passion: She’s his soul-mate, their lives entwined throughout the ages, and her mere presence sparks a fire within him that he’s tried for years to ignore. He finds himself fighting his body’s deepest urges every time he looks upon her graceful form, struggling for the control she needs of him, warring with inner desires and an ancient need that could make her abandon him forever…

EXCERPT: “Trust me, Victory,” Dragomir said softly. “There’s something between us…” He swallowed and glanced at his hands, where they touched hers. “We’re…connected…in a way that most people could only dream.” He seemed to be struggling for words, and settled with, “You were always safe with me, as I was with you.”
Victory peered into his eyes, wanting to ask him what he meant by that, yet not finding the courage. When she said nothing, he gingerly reached down and…

To the Princess Bound is a heart-pounding adventure for people who crave a little science fiction in their romance, who don't mind a bit of dystopian thriller sprinkled on top, and who like to read something totally unique and new. Shamelessly written for lovers of Paranormal & Urban Fantasy Romance!

About the Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR (a.k.a. Join My Alaskan Army) Email me. No, seriously, email me. Go do it. Right now. I love keeping my ear to the very heart of the publishing industry—which means I have to talk to you. I think entertaining and inspiring others is the most important thing about writing, and if I’m doing my job right, people will actually want to tell me what they think. So, dammit, if you were entertained or inspired, I wanna hear from you. I’m utterly freakin’ serious. In case you’re still not convinced, consider this: I’m a lifelong Alaskan. We do things differently here. With the roving grizzly bears (yes, I live in the Bush, not like those pussies in town) and my closest neighbor a mile away, it gets kinda lonely when it’s just me and my computer and a big, vast wilderness out my back door. I want to talk to the people who are reading my books, because who the hell else am I going to talk to?! In case you’re concerned about writing to a complete stranger, I assure you I’m totally approachable, in my random, quirky, too-much-time-without-sun kind of way. I’ve spent my entire life (starting at three years old!) working on writing as an art form, and I’ve poured my heart and soul into the twenty (ish) books I’ve written, so you can be damn sure I want feedback. I mean, putting together these (utterly brilliant, totally awesome) masterpieces and then getting nothing but silence is like building the Eiffel Tower and having people go…meh. So shoot me an email at and let me know your thoughts on the book! I respond to every email I get (though sometimes it takes longer than others). Oh, and friend me on Facebook at (authors need friends, too) and check my Author Page for the latest writerly news and updates. Or, even better, hop on over to Amazon and check out my other character-driven series, like Outer Bounds: or Millennium Potion: or, heck, even my Alaskan Paranormal/Fantasy series Guardians of the First Realm: to see some of my other compelling characters in action!

5.0 out of 5 stars Edge of your seat stuff May 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is one I can't get out of my mind. It ticks all the boxes in my great read list. It's exciting, you cannot put it down, it's heart rending, it pictures scenes so perfectly they play in you head like a video. This is alien sci-fi romance, blended with paranormal that is done well, blended with a story so terrible that whether it's believable or not you just can't stop reading. If you can't bear rape scenes, and can't stand reading about abuse though, this is not for you. As an abuse victim this is not my kind of book. I usually steer away from them like the plague, and only picked this up because it was free, and it was talking about healing. Don't be fooled, if you are a previous victim, and you can't stand up to your past, or you can't stand violent sex scenes, don't read it. For all the rest of you out there, this is a book that is writing taken to the edge of art, it seizes you by the throat and it won't let go. Set aside a day to read it, and take the phone off the hook.

This is the first book I have ever read in its entirety on my Kindle Fire. I have other eBooks, but I couldn't put my Kindle down. I had to know what was going to happen next. Sara King is great with detail and background of her characters. As the opening line of the synopsis says, "Sometimes, Life leads us where we need to go," and that is so true for each of these characters. Dragomir's spirit of compassion and humbleness tugged at my heart and his overall patience with Victory was amazing and at times a little maddening. Victory is spoiled, but that is how she is supposed to be for the story to progress and Sara did wonderful.

I knew very little about the story going into it and didn't know there would be a rape (rather several) involved. I knew it was a romance novel of sorts and once I found out about the rape, I was a little put out. I thought how in the world is this going to convincingly turn into a romance when the main female character has been raped. How will she recover in some 300 pages and be able to 'fall in love' with Dragomir? No worries, Sara King handles that and the details with tact and twists and turns that will lay your raised eyebrows at ease.

Quickly because this is getting long and I need to go home . . . the story is phenomenal and I can't wait for Sara to write more about the world of Mercy. The rape wasn't so vividly described as to force me to put the book down and walk away to prepare myself; she handle it with care. The sex . . . well . . . ummm yeah. It was there. Do I have to go into more detail than that? It was probably one of the most steamy sex scenes I have ever read and I'm having to block it from my mind (trying) for (clearing throat). . . ok moving on.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not romance! June 19, 2012

I guess I have to be the negative vote (usually I hate the downers!) but when I saw the price went up to 7.99 I had to warn people that this might not be the type of book that is described in the other reviews. I LOVE romance books -I read at least 5 or 6 a week. I like happy endings, especially if the H/h have to work through difficulties to get there. Other reviewers called this a "beautiful romance" but as I was reading it, I kept saying to myself "Where's the romance?" There was no love story until the very end!

OK so in this society rulers of the planet are the bad guys. They showed up one day, took over (because they are so superior in intelligence) and kidnapped most of the natives and turned them into slaves. The ones that remained free were taxed so high that they have nothing left. Of course the palace has GEMS in the toilet (not kidding). This princess had been kidnapped and gang-raped for 6 years and has just now been rescued (bummer, right?) Her father is a really really bad guy and forces her to be chained to a male slave to get her over her fear of men and somehow improve her attitude as a ruler. okay....?

So the H becomes her slave after he is kidnapped, beaten and stripped naked. Princess spends a few days terrified of him and the rest of the book humiliating him and treating him like crap. At the palace he is naked, hands bound behind his back, has to kneel at her feet and eat "pig slop" without his hands while everyone laughs at him. (sounds like a really fun book, huh?) His restraints are so painful it feels like his arms have been torn from the sockets ... then she chains him to the bedpost by the neck so he has to sleep on his knees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Magical! August 12, 2012
By Avalon

I have to admit, I am a sucker for a good romance story. Single moms and their romance novels right? Well, forget all the hype on this 50 Shades of Grey bs. How about a story that contains a little substance, or at least a proper plot line? Well never fear, because this one has all of the above, and also SOOO much more.

Too many romance stories today are all the same plot line, with a healthy dose of smut thrown in. You can almost predict the events and ending from about the second chapter. Good for your daily dose of smut, not so good for actual reading material. In To the Princess Bound, King takes the romance genre to a whole new level. While you have the classic little details that make a romance novel a romance novel, you are also gifted with an extraordinarily unique story line. This is what grabbed me most of all-my inability to put it down. I read constantly, like absorb books constantly. I come across "good" romance novels on almost a daily basis. But I can always put them down, as in walk away and come back later. And if that is how you operate on reading as well, I sincerely suggest you put aside some time where you can do nothing but read. Because if you can start To the Princess Bound, and walk away before you are finished, you are a stronger soul than I.

In all, I give this story 5 stars and honestly wish I could give it more. Too little credit is given to truly good authors these days and King certainly tops the list of current good authors. This isn't the first book of hers I have read, and with this kind of talent, it will most definitely not be the last.

More About the Author

While Alaskan science fiction/fantasy/romance author Sara King is not six-foot-four with carrot-soup hair and eyes that'll make a wereverine stare, she does live the same crazy, socially questionable, off-the-grid lifestyle that she writes about in Alaskan Fire. She is fully acquainted with the quirks of outdoor plumbing, grizzly bears, questionable hygiene, private arsenals, and hypothermia, and has a vast and inspiration-rich wilderness right off her front doorstep.
