This is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favourite works of literature for children. It is a book to treasure, with all the elements of a classic tale: a meaningful story (with an excellent and gently expressed message about environmental conservation), beautiful jewel-like illustrations, and an intelligent and sensitive main character. Princess Vivian is a wonderful role model, as she is a person who cares about animals, plants, and the earth. I highly recommend this book!
