Pure Genius,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Princess Diaries (Score) (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the best I have ever listened to! It shows the elegance of the movie instead of the pop and rap music on the regular soundtrack. It's great to listen to while reading and especially good while doing homework or studying since orchestra music opens the mind. I strongly recommend purchasing this CD!- Jaclyn

A hidden gem,

I say "hidden" gem because I didn't even know this album existed until one year after the movie came out. And the fact that the only place I've seen it for sale was on Amazon.com just tells you what rare a find this is. I've been a fan of "The Princess Diaries" for quite some time now, and I've always loved the beautiful score. The music really captures the elegance of the film, the same way the pop music soundtrack caputures the "teeny bopper" aspect of the film (does anyone use that term anymore?). The music is very classical and the orchestrations are wonderful--it almost sounds too good to be a movie score! It's great to listen to when you just want to sit back, relax, and have a nice cup of tea. ;) I only wish the Disney company would have marketed this soundtrack a little better so I could have learned about it sooner! (At least display it next to the pop soundtrack--jeesh.) A must-have for any "Princess Diaries" fan.

Even better than the song soundtrack,

This review is from: The Princess Diaries (Score) (Audio CD)
I wasn't aware that this album existed until recently but when I got it I found that I liked it even better than the other soundtrack album. In that one the songs are aimed at the market the movie was likely made for, teen girls, this one will appeal more to older viewers. With 25 different tracks I don't remember any particular song as being a favorite but there's something for everyone. I believe #2 Queen Clarisse was used in the menu portion of the DVD, it's not bad but I think I like #12 Scooter talk better. I guess it's common for movies to have a lot of background music that we never really hear, so much of this album is unfamiliar to me. I'd also like to know why, judging by the song titles, the music isn't arranged according to the order it would've been used in the movie.
