5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful dancing princess!
This doll is really pretty in person, and I am glad that I purchased her. However, younger children who want dolls that they can dress up may not like her because her clothes are not removable. The top might be (haven't tried yet), but the skirt is definitely NOT removable as it is attached to a plastic circle around the doll's waist that spins her skirt. One AAA...

One AAA battery for each leg of the doll (not included) causes the doll's skirt to spin and light up when the button on her leg is pressed and held down. Skirt spins really fast! It might have been neater if Mattel found a way to make her legs and/or body spin along with the skirt. Who heard of a ballerina whose skirt spins, but not her body?! But otherwise, a beautiful doll because of her dress, face, and curly hair.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
I love this Barbie! As soon as i saw the movie, I really really wanted Genevieve! To my suprise, My dad bought it for me in a biusness trip. I havent even told him about it yet!!! Well, This barbie looks very very different from the picture. (in my opinion, she looks better.) I did get tywla, so I dont know what happened to the other reviewer's Barbie. By the Way, Tywla uis SUPER cute! She wears a pink tutu, and a crown, with a string behind it so you can hang it everyone! Genevieve wears a cute Rose Red Dress, that you can spin and light up when you press the button on her leg. Her arms have joints on them, so u can make her do different moves! Her shirt is removable, but her skirt is not. Her Shoes are pink with laces. The laces are not strings. They are plastic, Which is connected with the shoes. Anyway, She is SO PRETTY!!!!!!! She has a little glitter on her eyes, and glitter eye shadow, and pink lip gloss. Light, but CUTE! Overall, I lOVE Genevieve!!! (thanks dad!!!) Hope this Helps!!!

Barbie Fan

Mattel did send us a check in the mail to replace doll. so that put my faith back into mattel.

2.0 out of 5 stars So disappointed, November 27, 2006
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
I was so excited getting this doll for my daughter's 5th birthday. The doll itself is beautiful but the skirt only worked for about 5 minutes! I thought it might have been batteries so we tried replacing them again and again but nothing can get her to work again. So disappointing. My daughter still says she likes her...but hasn't picked her up since her birthday. Such a shame that it broke so easily...it should be better made considering it was meant to be played with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really a great toy and twyla isn't even the same as the movie, September 30, 2006
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
I found it really odd that there is a Twyla cat in this which looks nothing like Twyla in the movie. I found it odd, but my daughter found it completely confusing. She likes the little cat, that is fine, but she keeps asking why she didn't get Twyla with Genivieve.

The doll is pretty and the skirt spins around but you can't really do much else with it and my daughter needs to be incredibly careful where and how she plays with it. All in all a bit of a bust. I imagine it will be a bit of a collectable in the future it is so odd. Not particularly great as a toy - although the movie is fabulous. highly recommended - just not with this particular doll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandpa hits a double., December 26, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
I ordered this one along with Dora for my 2-year-old granddaughter, and this formidable twosome (Genevieve and Dora) has consumed practically all of her time this Christmas, upstaging the offerings from the other family members (so there, "other" grandpa). The coolest thing about this doll is hearing my grand-tot learning a new name, pronouncing it "Jenabeeve." One detail that impressed me: the arms bend at the elbows, allowing for a demonstration of graceful arm movement. One curious detail: the hands and fingers are artificially dainty and small--so much so that the doll's mouth is abnormally large by comparison. (I looked at my hands and mouth in a mirror just to verify my suspicions of the doll's designers taking liberties with anatomical verisimilitude.) No big deal. Better a doll's hands be unrealistically shrunken than its waistline. Of course, the length of the legs is overextended--inspired by viewing too many Cyd Charisse or Busby Berkeley movies? In any case, my granddaughter is not nearly so hypercritical of her charming little Jenabeeve, and I'm not planning on ordering an extra for myself (my cat, maybe).

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
I went through a lot of trouble to get this doll. My local mall ran out of stock so my aunt bought this doll for me when I was in China some time ago. The Doll is brilliant! I love to beautiful dress and the jewellry. The doll's hair is uniquely styled and her arms can move just like a real ballet dancer. I love the way the dress spins and lights up. Twyla is really cute too. I don't see why many of the previous reviewers didn't like this doll. Because I'm a kid myself, I think this review is much more ACCURATE than a adult's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!!!!!, December 23, 2006
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
My daughter got this as a gift from her grandmother. She has not put it down since she got it. She even brings it to bed with her at night. The little Twyla that comes with it also doubles as a Christmas ornament, but she has had fun just playing with it.

My daughter is 5 and this is probably her favorite toy ever. I am even considering buying a second one on sale just in case she wears this one out.

This is a must have for any 12 Dancing Princess Fan!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty doll - a must for a 12 Dancing Princess Fan!!, December 2, 2006
This review is from: Princess Genevieve Doll - Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses (Toy)
My 4 year old had a 12 Dancing Princess Party for her birthday - she got this doll, as well as a couple of the "sisters" for gifts. Genevieve's skirt twirls and lights up - my little one loves it!!. The arms are poseable. The skirt can get stuck from time to time - and it creates quite a breeze when she spins. I think if it played the musical tune too - it would be even better (though somewhat annoying!). Still a pretty doll for the price!! I like this better than the super pricey dance with me Genevieve that we purchased for her!!
