beautiful masterpeice,
By Rachel (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Princess and the God (Hardcover)
Not only is this novella beautifully written, but it is also a fast and enjoyable read. I spend many nights dreaming of the actions that occur between the two main characters-Cupid and Psyche-just to try and re-experience its spender. Based on the mythological love affair that was forbidden by Cupid's own jealous mother, Venus, Orgel portrays the struggle for true love that occurs between the godly mortal Psyche, and the love-stricken God Cupid. Through sensual verses and phrases the theme of true happiness and passion leave the reader begging for another chapter. I recommend this book to anyone who loves mythology like myself as well as forbidden romance, for it is truly a wonderful combination of the two.

I devoured this beautiful book in an hour. Full of romance, it retells the story of "Cupid and Psyche" expanding the characters of both protagonists, making them likable and offering interesting insights into their minds and hearts. If you enjoy mythology and fairy tales, you definitely need to read this book!

I love the novella. Short and sweet but great detail especially for those interested in mythology. I love the story and the way it is presented.

2 stars is generous,
This review is from: The Princess and the God (Laurel-Leaf Books) (Paperback)
I was deeply dissapointed in this short story. I love the original tale of Cupid and Psyche and this slimmed down "book" offered no decent narration or descriptions. It was tiny and i finished it in under an hour with plenty of time left for regret that i ever purchased it. It is more of a child's novel than anything and stumbles awkwardly over deeper themes. Not a book for any lover of the ancient gods (or books for that matter).
