Vomit, Virgins and Villains!,
By
This review is from: The Princess and Her Pirate (Mass Market Paperback)
Vomit, Virgins and Villains! Does it get any better? Mistaken for a thief known as the "magical Megs", Princess Tatiana is held prisoner by the Pirate Lord Cairn McTavish. He's convinced she is this infamous thief and also lover to his rival and is intent on breaking her to his will and using her as a pawn to seek his revenge. Though we know Tatiana is a Princess and Cairn was once a pirate, we just aren't sure where Tatiana is from or when Cairn was ever a pirate. It's ok though because this story is so FUN! From the first chapter I was game for the wonderful ride Lois Greiman takes us on in THE PRINCESS AND THE PIRATE. This light book was a wonderful read that teases the reader by knocking out our hero just before they consummate their relationship. It was both amusing and entertaining. This book is a gem if you are looking for fun and silliness. You will find no heavy historical content however, so don't choose this story if that is what you are looking for. This one is PURE enjoyment from start to finish and a good break from more heavy storylines you may be reading.

The Book That Never Leaves Your Side!,
By Michelle Handlin (Morris, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Princess and Her Pirate (Mass Market Paperback)
The book's twists and turns will force you to be so infatuated in the story that you will be bringing the book everywhere with you. Lois Greiman creates a setting that pulls you in and makes you beg for more! You will find yourself drawn to read her book no matter where you are and who you're with. Reading suddenly becomes more important than visiting with family members that you haven't seen in years, finishing important tasks, or even sleeping. Turning each page of Lois Greiman's PRINCESS AND HER PIRATE, is like watching a suspenseful movie. You ache for the characters to listen to your silent thoughts. As soon as you think you know what is going to happen next, a whirlwind of passion, romance, deception, and distrust overburdens your emotions and sucks you into each turning page. I invite you to read Lois Greiman's PRINCESS AND HER PIRATE if you want a captivating, sweet Scottish story about a couple trying to find love and the struggles they go through.

I enjoyed this book. The dialog/verbal sparring between the two characters was great. The princess held her own in a variety of interesting circumstances. The story wrapped up a bit too neatly but left several items unsolved. Her character was strong, his a bit soft. The bodyguard Burr was most enjoyable. I've not read too many "pirate" novels but i enjoyed this.

I am an fan of greiman, but this book was for me very difficult read. First of all , It was totally unbelivible. That he would after days of knowing her he still thinks her to be Megs. The side story about Gem and Burr is more interesting than the main story line. Which brings up the point that it left you hanging, I mean did wheaton kidnap gem? Did she leave of her own free will. If not did she take his favorit hores to ensure that he will come after her. I mean I cared more about Gem and Burr's romance then tatianna's anf carin's. Well that's how I feel about that book. Hope it is a help.

The book cover looked promising but the story itself was quite a disappointment. I guess I was also expecting more of a Pirate romance based on the title. Except for the fact the leading man was a pirate there was not really a Pirate theme. The writer could have told the same story in about half the pages. I rarely skip pages but the story was so repetitive I just had to. I read the entire book thinking it would get better but even the ending was lame. I would not reccommend this book.

A Total Fun Read!,

This review is from: The Princess and Her Pirate (Mass Market Paperback)
In this very amusing read Princess Tatiana has with the help of a very trusted advisor, put a body double in her palace to take her place while she set out on a secret quest to negotiate an alliance with a man whom she'd heard was a strong and able leader, Cairn MacTavish - the famous `Pirate Lord'. The alliance she planned to propose to him was that of marriage. Seasick and shaken, things simply did not go her way when after a terrible voyage, she was separated from her bodyguard and robbed of her valise holding proof of her identity. Attempting to hold back the nausea she had been holding in since reaching land she ran after the thief when she bumped into none other than the Laird of Teleere, Cair MacTavish himself. He insisted that she was the ever-slippery thief `Magical Megs' who had once stolen his brooch and he was not about to let her slip through his fingers again, and then to her great mortification - she vomited all over him then passed out.
Who was this Magical Megs?- Cairn MacTavish, couldn't figure it out. Thief, murderer and liar - who was this beautiful woman with the bearing of a princess who totally confused him with her rapier sharp tongue. No matter how captivating, he would not surrender to her charms no matter how much his traitorous body wished otherwise. With a past betrayal still fresh in his mind he fought his attraction to his prisoner who had turned the tables and captured HIS heart. *** This was a fun read employing some truly witty and delightful dialogs between the protagonists that will have the reader chuckling throughout. Additionally the off-the-cuff impertinent comments coming from Cairn's long time sidekick Burr were a delightful bonus as well as Burr's blossoming romance with the cheeky young thief Gem. <As the romance with Gem and Burr didn't reach any conclusion I hope to see it resurrected in the next installment of this Princess trilogy.> Greiman uses a full complement of wonderful secondary characters combined with humor and a sweetly seductive romance to make this book a charmer from the beginning to end that I highly recommend. --- Marilyn, for www.romancedesigns.com ---

Falls Flat,
By Melinda Cunningham (Columbus, OH United States) - See all my reviews

I am a Greiman fan, too. I was looking forward to this story. However, as I read on it seemed like a chore. Cairn came off as an idiot with a one- (okay, two-) track mind. The plot was not well thought out. There were many details that were missing that would assist the reader in understanding why these characters behaved like they did. Tatiana's story was vague and I became frustrated with having to fill in so many of the blanks. There was so much potential in the story that was wasted. All in all, it was a poor read.

So...this book was absolutely amazing! I love the way the story unfolds and how it literally draws you in. The characters are both amazing and stubborn as hell. What a perfect match!! I seriously read this book in about 5 hours. I am not kidding when I say I couldn't put this book down. Can't wait to get some more of her books!! Actually about to order a couple more now!

A winner,
This review is from: The Princess and Her Pirate (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1817 Princess Tatiana Rocheneau will do anything for the good of her people so she sets forth from Sedonia in disguise to meet Cairn MacTavish, pirate captain of Teleere in order to obtain his services to protect her beloved island kingdom. To insure her safety, a look alike is left behind sitting on the throne. However, nothing goes right from the start, as she hates traveling by sea. Looking forward to land, the moment she sets foot on Teleere, Tatiana is arrested and is accused of being super thief Magical Megs. In spite of her insistence that she is not Meg, but a neighboring princess, Cairn rejects her plea of innocence. Desperate, Tatiana escapes though her heart remains captive. Cairn follows knowing that this woman stole his heart too. Though there has been a recent influx of Regency tales involving island kingdoms, readers will enjoy this delightful novel. The lead couple is charming, but it is the master thief Meg who steals the show, as readers will want to know more about this magical robber. Early nineteenth century romance fans will want to read the pleasing THE PRINCESS AND THE PIRATE, as the story is simple fun. Harriet Klausner
