I've always wondered why the old timers were so against the "haoles" (white man). Now I know......They were two timed bythe very ones they trusted. The royal family wanted it to be a republic, they did not want to be a territory or state. If you'd go there you can see the beauty of the islands destroyed by the development of the haoles. Everyone should read this book....then they'll understand.
