Conveys the timeless message that it is better to give than to receive,
This review is from: The Princess and the Kiss: The Three Gifts of Christmas (Hardcover)
This is a great story to read to little ones during this Christmas season. As Christmas arrives, the king and queen are worried. Their daughter the princess appears to have become a spoilt brat who has forgotten the real meaning of Christmas. The royal couple decide to teach her the real meaning of Christmas by deciding that she will only receive three gifts this Christmas. Each gift is symbolic, and the story focuses on what the princess does with these gifts, and in the process discovers the significance of Christmas.
I think this book makes for a perfect Christmas read - it is often all too easy to get swept away by the spirit of the season in getting too many gifts for the special children in our lives, yet it is also important to instill a sense of charity and giving in children so that they may appreciate and be thankful for what they do have, and be charitable towards those less fortunate than themselves.

A wonderful story! My niece who is 7 loves all things "princess." This story teaches children (and reminds adults) that giving is more precious than receiving.

This review is from: The Princess and the Kiss: The Three Gifts of Christmas (Hardcover)
"The Three Gifts of Christmas" is a 11 ¼ inch by 8 ¾ inch thirty-one page children's Christmas Picture book. The book is beautifully illustrated by Preston McDaniels in a semi-cartoon style. Every other page is a full color, full -page illustration. The text pages also have a small illustration on them. This book includes a wonderful audio book CD.In our growing materialistic society our children are becoming more ungrateful. This, sometimes becomes more evident at Christmas time. This book tells the story of a princess who is given many gifts at Christmas time, so many in fact that she keeps asking if there are any more without appreciation for the ones she just opened. The King and Queen are deeply concerned about the ungratefulness of their daughter and the fact that she forgot the true meaning of Christmas. The next year they decreed that there would be only three gifts given to the princess - each gift as precious as the princess is to her parents. The princess does something wonderful with the three very precious gifts that shows that she rediscovered the true meaning of Christmas and gift giving - the best gifts come from the heart and that it is more blessed to give than to receive. If you are looking for a book that teaches children to be more appreciative of the gifts they receive at Christmas and "It is more blessed to give than receive, then this is the book for you."
