ISBN 0448414813 - Printed in the U.S.A. (good for New York based Grosset & Dunlap!) For ages 3 and up. I love childrens' books and I especially love used childrens' books, so I didn't really expect to like this one because it's a tough book to use once it's been used. Once the stickers are in place, it's a tough sell.

A princess who has a habit of losing things, has lost her favorite locket. She searches high and low, asking everyone she sees if they've seen the missing piece of jewelry. They haven't, but they have come across many other misplaced treasures. The reader is challenged to find those items in the pictures and mark them with the jewel stickers that are included. The princess does finally find her locket, of course, but you'll never guess where!

The stickers, a cute girly addition, aren't just stickers. They're part of the seek and find game that's built into the story. Once they've been placed, they can't be UNplaced, so that's a negative for me. Other than that, however, I really like this book for its blatantly girly appeal and the tenacity of the princess who won't stop until she finds what she's looking for. The text, by author Jennifer Dussing, is simple enough for beginning readers and the repetition of "no, we haven't seen it, but we did find..." helps. Jerry Smath's illustrations are perfect. They're detailed enough to hide the items the reader is seeking without making it too hard to find them. The princess's pet dragon, who is with her in every scene, is absolutely adorable and might just need his own book one day.
