Interesting, January 16, 2007
A good listen if you are an avid fan of the Mononoke-hime soundtrack. Some tracks are extended from the OST, some you won't hear anywhere else and some are very different versions of songs you are already familiar with. A wonderful track is track 9, Dog God, Moro. Seeing as how this character never got a proper theme song in the movie, it was nice to hear it.

Beautiful Instrumentals, October 6, 2010
This cd is composed of extended instrumental versions of background music from the film and a few original pieces (tracks 9 and 10, I believe). They're all lovely, of course, but they seem more like an optional extra step than an ordinary soundtrack. Each track is rather long, the shortest being just under 4 mins.
The track list is as follows:
1) The Legend of Ashitaka
2) The Cursed God
3) The Lost People
4) Princess Mononoke
5) Yakkle
6) The Forest of the Shishi God
7) Lady Eboshi
8) The Kodamas
9) The Dog God(dess) Moro
10) Ashitaka and San
As to why it's called an "image album", I couldn't say. Apart from the cover shot of Ashitaka and a watercolor portrait of San on the back, the cd offers no additional images. Recommended for avid fans, but a casual enthusiast wouldn't be missing too much if they passed it by.
