In the kingdom of Pine Glen . . .

When a teenage wizard blunders a spell that sends a real, live medieval princess to the Peabodys' house, fourteen-year-old Casey Peabody is in for a royal mess! It was bad enough attending Pine Glen Junior High with a squad of cheerleading princesses. Now suddenly Casey has to contend with a real princess of her own.

Her Highness, Princess Eglantine, is an expert at the three Ps: Prettiness, Perkiness, and Popularity—but she can't play soccer like Casey, and she hasn't got a clue about junior high! With ribbons in her hair and her nose in the air, the princess will need Casey to battle the cheerleaders . . . and though she doesn't know it yet, Casey will need the princess, too.

With laughs at every turn, this magical tale proves that you don't have to wear a tiara or be a great soccer player to be cool. It doesn't take a wizard's spell to figure it out: Confident girls rule!

About the Author

Betty G. Birney has been a star soccer player, a beautiful princess, and a cheerleader—in her writing, that is. In reality, she once made it to the finals of her junior high cheerleading tryouts, and she still plays a mean game of Ping-Pong. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she has worked in the Kingdom of Hollywood for many years, where she's written over two hundred television shows. Her work has garnered numerous honors, including an Emmy, a Writers Guild of America award, three Humanitas Prizes, a Christopher Award, and many state awards. She now reigns over her backyard office in Los Angeles. Alas, her house does not have a dungeon.

I read this before I sent it to my great niece and I really liked the story and I thought it was a good book for a mature 5th grader.

A Kid's Review
This thrilling book is about a teenager who loves sports and getting down in the dirt. But when her grandmother byes a magical trunk she meets her total oppisite. Princess Eglantine Annalisa Ambrosia de Bercy (Egg for short) was Prissy,Perky, and Popular according to Casey Peabody was the 3P's to being a popular snob. Not to mention the third P is princess. Princess of Trewellyn to be exact. This book kept me at the edge of my seat wondering will Egg fit in or ever go back to her medieval kingdom. Which was set 300 centries ago. This book was defenetly worth getting. I spent the whole day of each day reading this book. I never got bored or wanted to put it down. Will Casey Peabody the soccer fanatic hate the princess and her ways of doing things her whole visit, or is it true that the saying "oppisites attract" will come true.I can't wait for you to find out in this exciting book "The Princess and The Peabodys".
