Princess Smarty Pants Rules is my kind of book, utterly delightful with wonderful illustrations. Children of all ages and parents and grand parents will thoroughly enjoy this and the other Smarty Pants books. I love them all and so will you. Go on treat yourself and have as much fun as I did reading this to my grand children.

Treat your daughter to a book which teaches her that autonomy and self-sufficiency is okay and that you don't have to get married to be happy. This story is about a girl who does not want to follow the norm.

Another delightful story from Babette Cole,

This review is from: Princess Smartypants Rules (Hardcover)
This is a continuation of the original Princess Smartypants which was delightful in itself. Now Princess Smartypants decides she'd like to have a baby of her own. It tells of her adventures with the baby and some creative solutions to the challenges it brings.

I really thought I would love this book, but...,
This review is from: Princess Smartypants Rules (Hardcover)
Okay first off I have to say that I did LOVE the first Princess Smarty Pants. I even liked the story told in this one. My problem is this. I am a mother of an almost two year old who is multi racial. When I read this book it stuck me that the baby that PSP makes is brown. I had to ask myself why? The baby causes tons of trouble until PSP gets two dragons to help her take care of it. I bought it for my daughter's 2nd birthday, though she won't be getting it so soon. I have decided to save it for a few years until she is old enough to talk about and critically think about the imagery of a white woman needing dragons to held her take care of a little brown baby.
