3.0 out of 5 stars she's got snap & crackle, but needs more pop
PRINCESS SUPERSTAR's rhymes are mostly incredible. just reading the lyric sheet had me laughing & smiling. not just a novelty, she's also got some seriously important things to say as well. she's great at twisting the words and surprising even the most jaded hip-hop listener. and the production of the tracks is very very fresh-sounding. the beats are hot and the backing...

For those who haven't heard of Princess Superstar, she is a NYC rapper who has released three previous albumns, her first albumn Strictly Platinum is unfortunately out of print, but I have her two other albums CEO and Last of the Great 20th Century Composers.

I was an instant fan of Miss Superstar after hearing LOFTG20CC. A lot of people would like to simply call her a white girl rapping novelty but really she has amazing lyrical talent and a cool sense of humor. Her voice when she raps goes from playfull to sweet to alluring but always sassy and on tracks like untouchable it genuinely feels like she is singing from the heart which is something that makes music great regardless of genre.

This albumn full of really smooth groovy type tracks. Her other albumns, which are totally brilliant as well, are a little more experimental, especially CEO which is a really heavy ride through a booming soundscape. Also there is a cute little Tamahoochie game on the cd which is a nice touch. LOTG20CC also has some amusing little games on it too and the Bad Babysitter single is totally worth getting even if you own the albumn because it has the entire video clip included on it.

I was lucky to have a gig by the Princess in my town, but unlucky enough to be too late and miss the show. She was there however signing copies of her single and some really cool t-shirts, but I'd spent my last couple of bucks getting in the door. But I'm glad that I saw her in person, she was really nice to everyone.

Princess Superstar aka Concertta Kirschner is trully a beautiful person, sure she's hot, but I mean her talent and creativity are outstanding and regardless of how many records she sells at Christmas time, I think anyone who hears this or any of her albumns will agree that she is THE Princess Superstar.

PRINCESS SUPERSTAR's rhymes are mostly incredible. just reading the lyric sheet had me laughing & smiling. not just a novelty, she's also got some seriously important things to say as well. she's great at twisting the words and surprising even the most jaded hip-hop listener. and the production of the tracks is very very fresh-sounding. the beats are hot and the backing instrumentation is a welcome change from what we're used to hearing these days (largely due to cool keith's handiwork on this album). however, there's something missing from this album. NONE OF THE SONGS have a real hook, they're all too weak to really hit the mark. while the raps & beats are good, none of the tracks really jumped out at me (although some came close). perhaps it's the verse-chorus-verse-chorus writing style in each song that got kinda tired. also, princess is AWESOME when she changes up her vocal delivery...something she needed to do more often. she's got a huge range if she'd put it to good use. too much of this reminded me of lil' kim and eminem (something princess acknowledges in her lyrics at one point) with a dash of lords of acid. i was just a bit disappointed because i read an interview w/ princess before hearing the album, and i think she claimed to be doing something a bit more innovative. i can see where, in another few years with the right producers, she could really do some damage on the mic. she has the skill. i purchased this cd and "in search of..." by N*E*R*D the same day. if these 2 artsists collaborated, we'd really have a killer record on our hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and Fun!, May 2, 2004

What can I say? The Princess' other albums were amazing, but this one is just one-of-a-kind. Not only are her lyrics brilliant and witty, but this LP is just filled with hooks and great beats. It makes all other rap seem boring and trite.

I heard that her new album should be coming out soon, and I can't wait!

P.S. As if her rhyming/songwriting skills weren't enough, she's also an extremely talented DJ!

I like this cd of Princess , it has a lot of cool catchy songs with funny lyrics like "Bad babysitter" & "Keith N' Me" which are excellent,I wonder how come she didn't get more famous , I think she's at least good as eminem, in a more feminine rude version.

5.0 out of 5 stars why isnt she massive?!?, March 12, 2003
This review is from: Is (Audio CD)
Wow, she rules. This album is even better then the previous and shes just going from strength to strength. Her flawless ability to create freestyle, fastpace, hilarious and very clever style is enough to leave some big names in the business in the industry feelin dizzy.Im amazed she aint massive, maybe she needs some radio friend duet with a big name, but she totally has the talent to go all the way. she rocks!!!

Just to let you know what I'm in to, here's some of my favourite recent(ish) albums. Soundbombing 2, K+D Sessions, Future Lounge 2, Beck-Midnite Vultures.
Anyway, I got this the other day (much cheaper in Britain, for a change) and I've only had a chance to listen to it a couple of times but I love it already. All the collabos come off perfect. Great production and some good old-fashioned choruses, for a change. She's just marvellous. Something different for ya lug holes.

Sweet CD. The beats are good, most of the lyrics are good (if you like dirtiness). Didn't get the 5th star because some of the rhymes are a bit awkward.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALL HAIL THE PRINCESS, July 20, 2002

This review is from: Is (Audio CD)
Seriously smart ("Dichotomy"), nastily funny ("Bad Babysitter"), unrepentantly political ("Too Much Weight"), occasionally poignant ("Dichotomy" again), almost always impressive and entertaining. Props to Her Royal Superstarness for reminding us how rap can be all that -- and so can she.

...One of my top CDs of the year.

2.0 out of 5 stars White and Trash, January 30, 2002

Because this was included in the 'recommended listening' shelf at my local music shop, and because it features appearances from Kool Keith, Bahamadia and Beth Orten with beats provided by the Herbalizer, I presumed that it was something similar to the 'Handsome Boy Modelling School' project. Y'know, a top producer providing the beats and various talents rapping over the top kind of a thing.

How I was wrong.

Track one: Kool Keith game show skit. Usual fare.
Track two: Nice enough beats, but irritating female rapper. Who is she anyway? No name is listed under the song credits...
Track three: Suddenly dawns on me that 'Princess Superstar' isn't an album concept but a crappy Lil' Kim style rappess.

Her raps blabber on about her being the female Eminem (who's style she certainly emulates, complete with childish backing samples: think 'My Name Is' by Em.)
Typical lyrics are about [sex] and smoking Sens, and how she is wrongly portrayed by the media (I've never heard of her) as a white trash rapper in a black girl's game.

She just comes off as a sweary blondie from No Doubt. Absolute tripe. Two stars for the beats.
