The Princess Within by Serita Jakes is a book that encourages women to realize she can find within herself 'the princess within'. Using the story of Cinderella as a backdrop, Serita Jakes shares personal dilemmas and triumphs (becoming injured in a car accident and learning how to walk again, and in her younger days suffering from the woes of picking the wrong relationship. My favorite part is when she writes letters to the Secret Keeper experessing her very innermost feeling. She has a wonderful style of writing, serene and full of wisdom. This is a great book for women to read and is highly recommended.

I had a chance to meet the author of this book during a Womens' Conference at The Potters House Church on 9/23/99-9/26/99. She autographed my copy for me. This book is a revelation to those of us who have struggled for years with not feeling we were good enough, who felt we were inadequate and who never thought our childhood dreams would become adult realities. First Lady Jakes does an outstanding job of teaching us Christian/Saved Ladies how to be confident in who we are in the Lord and who the Lord is in us. Personally meeting First Lady Jakes was a joy and a pleasure and this book came directly from her soul. It is helping me realize that God is there to help and assist us in every area of our lives; and He has been there all the time. This book is writen like a secret diary to the Lord. How exciting to read how the Lord has blessed this wonderful woman of God; and lets us know that God has everything under control if we just trust in Him and let Him be in control. A Must Have for the Christian Womens Library; it will certainly bless your soul.

While reading The Princess Within, I had the feeling that First Lady Jakes was ministering to me directly. I have always admired her grace, charm and natural beauty; this book was filled with experiences that cultivated these qualities in her. I appreciated the candor expressed in this book, as revealed in several journal entries to the Secret Keeper. If you are struggling with your past and the "Cinderella Syndrome", this book is a MUST for your library. Be careful, this book is not a self-help, self-empowerment book, it is written by a saved (Christian) woman, from that point of view. There is nothing we can do to save ourselves, but First Lady Jakes' book points the way to the One . . .

The princess within revealed to me the true identity of who I really am in Christ,once I allow God to heal all of the broken places in my life. Sister's this book encouraged me to come out of the pig's parlor, and to sit on the throne of royal priesthood, as a princess. It helped me to realize that Jesus is my Secret Keeper, and that every thing that I was ashamed of I could tell my secret keeper. I have always admired Serita Jakes for the virtuous woman that she is, and she is one of the greatest examples that we have today as a black woman, and her position in the church,community, home,and etc. She exempifies the way that God intends for us to be. So please single and married women, don't delay any longer. If you desire to be healed, and desire to be the woman, God intends for you to be please get this book A.S.A.P.

God desires His daughter's to know that Restoration is possible in our lives. As with her husband, T.D. Jakes, Serita Jakes is a powerful writer and hits home with her vulnerable writing.

In this book she compares today's hurting woman with the story of Cinderella and how through God's healing love, "we can make it to the ball". She touches on the subject that God longs to be our secret keeper, and that He wants us to be honest with Him about our doubts, fears, and insecurities.

I highly suggest this book to every woman--whether she has been abused or abandoned, this book can show you how to lift up your head and walk without shame!

Serita Ann Jakes found healing by writing letters to the Lord. And since
that deliverance, her heart has been overflowing with the desire to
reveal how He has been her Secret Keeper. It is her hope that women
who read her story will also learn to trust their secrets to Him.

Mrs. Jakes gloriously parallels her message with the famed fairy tale
Cinderella. Every woman was born to be a princess, our Creator designed
His daughters to be the glory of men and the mothers of all living things.
We were the final touch of creation and the solution to loneliness in
mankind. So, she asks, "why have so many women have fallen from that place
of honor and esteem?" In her comparison to the fairy tale, she urges women
to take control of their lives. To not wait for someone to give them a ride
to the celebration, but find their own way to the dance as Cinderella did.

There are critics who say that life is not like fairy tales with happy
endings, but Mrs. Jakes responds, "just as a prince awaited Cinderella, a
Prince of Peace awaits you." It is time for women to be restored to the
place of honor that God intended for them to have. THE PRINCESS WITHIN
confirms and restores with scripture and reverence.

This was the first book I read for the new millennium. Every woman who is a Christian should read Sister Serita's book. The book will start and continue your healing process. The book was awesome. I can't wait for your next book. God Bless all who read it.

Her words humbled me, and yet lifted me up to recog nize my place in the Kingdom of God. I am not just the daughter of the King, I am a Princess and I belong at the forefront of the Kingdom. I can describe how much this book has made me realize my worth in Christ.

This is a book that every Christian woman should read! It would be especially helpful for new Christians or Christians that struggle with feeling worthy to accept the wonderful things that God has for us.

The book is very affirming. It is a blessing that Mrs. Jakes choose to be transparent in writing it. I believe that most Christian women go through the same things she describes but they feel all alone.
