So when it works it's a fine device but every time I come to it the batteries are dead flat. Poor design that has residual load when off.

As said by most reviews, though this product world's very well as a light, it is well built and the beam is perfect. However, somewhat incredibly it drains the batteries even when switched off. A fatal design fault in a torch. If you use this on a bike every day, maybe that is not a problem, otherwise you will need to take the batteries out every time you store it. Should have been recalled.

Build and light quality are great, but drains batteries even when off.

(Update: after contacting Princeton Tec, I received a replacement part for my light)

A friend had one that I used during a sailboat delivery, and I was impressed enough by it that I later bought my own.

I have had no difficulties or issues like the previous reviewer with either my light or my friends, so I would credit those not to deficient design, but to the fact that in these days of mass manufacturing there are always bound to be some products which come off the line not at 100%.

Good, very small piece of gear, I have no problem recommending it if you are looking for something like this. If you happen to get one with issues, either the retailer or manufacturer would probably be willing to exchange.

...I read late into the evening in bed. The red LED lamp is powerful enough to illuminate my book and surrounding area while not destroying my night vision. The power consumption of this product (red LED) is very low...I have not changed the batteries yet and have been using the head lamp for over 2.5 months now (every night)...Great product for bed reading...outside, the high beam sucks (only 96 lumens)...inside and for reading it's awesome.

Very compact and light weight. It uses 2 AAA batteries instead of the normal 3, it makes for a lighter and more compact light. The be a is more than adequate. Because of only 2 batteries, though, the batteries don't last as long.

I got this for an emergency light for the car due to it's small size and compactness.

I have had numerous Princeton Tec lights. 2 of these, 3 Fuels, 6 Remixes and 3 Coronas.

There is a short life on all of these depending on price.

The Corona last the longest for me, about 1 year but also is the most expensive. The Remix is about the best combo of price to dying, I can get them to last about 9 months.

Normally the switch goes on Princeton Tec Stuff. You will bend over and it will go off. Or it will go off and then you can turn it back on. Or the lights start going on and off. Time to get a new one.

However both of these did not get much use from me being car lights but after about 4 months they both stopped working. The switch didn't go on these, they just didn't work.

I like the design. Great as a backup light you could put in your glove box or survival kit. However I would be afraid to do that because they seem to have a limited SHELF LIFE independent of how much they are used.

My dad has been an ultra marathon runner for the past 20 years. He recommended the Princeton Tec headlamps to me. I run at 5am in the foothills of the Colorado mountains. There are very few streetlights and some mornings are foggy, so having a headlamp is essential. One morning I was running and I heard a rustling in the forest beside the road. I pointed the headlamp towards the sound and saw two eyes shining back at me...it was just a deer, but it put my mind at ease that I could see the things around me that would otherwise be compeletely dark. It also helped me see when a fox ran across my path. For these reasons it was well worth the money. I wear a light on the back of my belt, but this headlamp is also nice so that on-coming cars can see me. I wear a JUNK headband under this headlamp for comfort. The black strap is soft, stretch, adjustable and comfortable, but the plastic lamp would be a little uncomfortable against your bare skin, so I'd recommend some sort of headband.
