Compact, sufficient light, poor on-off function, February 11, 2007
This is a pretty compact flashlight, and the handle has a flattened shape to it. The light it puts out is sufficient for "general purpose" use, but I had hoped for more of a spotlight effect. While this flashlight does not have a "flood" effect, and in fact it does lean towards the "spotlight" side of things, it is not as focused as I would have liked. The most negative thing about this flashlight though is the on-off function. To turn it on or off, you simply tighten or loosen the upper section against the lower section - you basically twist it. I've had these types of flashlights before and I like them, but to turn this one on requires that you tighten it very snugly. Maybe I have a poorly manufactured one, hard to say... But I don't like it. This flashlight is not the worst of the lot, but for the price I paid at the time - $23.95, a flashlight should be better than this.

A likely defect--poor quality control, August 3, 2010
This review is from: Princeton Tec Impact II Optically Enhanced LED Flashlight (Sports)
For the price they charge, you'd think that Princeton would be able to hire a quality control inspector to sit at the end of the production line to check the flashlights. Mine came with 'beam spot' that looks as if someone is holding their thumb over the bottom portion of the lens. In other words, instead of a ROUND spot being projected, I got one with a flattened black area at the bottom 1/5th of the 'beam spot'. Annoying!! [Follow-up: I got an exchange, and also bought another one, and that same blackened area was on both of them. But I do like their long-burning duration. So I bought an olive drab (the two previous ones were translucent)...the new one was for a friend. And the light pattern is somewhat different. (ther's no blackened spot now.) But instead of a uniform wider, 'somehwat bright' (if you can call it bright) circle, the olive drab one has a smaller brighter inner circle, with a slightly darker outer 'spill' area. So, I said, above, their quality control is lacking. And oh yes, the new olive drab one had scatches on the emitter housing which I 'buffed-off' somewhat with a polishing cloth.]

Good little flashlight, February 15, 2008
This review is from: Princeton Tec Impact II Optically Enhanced LED Flashlight (Sports)
Princeton Tec makes great flashlights, and this is no exception. It's a small, compact, extremely handy light. I didn't expect much in terms of ligth output, but it's actually surprisingly bright for an led flaslight. Battery life is great.
