This is the best tent flashlight...,
By Shannon (Cape Cod, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Princeton Tec Sport Flare (Sports)
I spent alot of time researching this one people. Backpacker magazine, EMS, Princeton Tec website etc. While you may find a tent lantern that is brighter, the real bonus here is light versus battery use and weight. Most lanterns appropriate to use in a tent use bigger or more battery power. I wanted something that I could hang at the center of my tent and just leave it and not worry about killing the batteries during several days of extensive use. I have another flashlight and lantern for roaming around the campsite at night. This light produces a diffuse light pattern to brighten an area instead of a directed beam. When hanging from the center of the tent from the provided lanyard, it directs the diffuse light downward instead of outward as is the case with most lanterns. I only buy Princeton Tec flashlights. They are completely submersibe and work underwater. Can you say that about your other flashlights and lanterns? If I am camping or am in an emergency situation I want foolproof. One neat feature that kids will love...when you put out the light, the plastic cover glows in the dark for quite awhile. Attach a whistle to the lanyard provided, and I think this would be a great inexpensive gift for a kid that could save their life especially since it can be used as an emergency signalling device.

Genius Cone,

This review is from: Princeton Tec Sport Flare (Sports)
I use this flashlight for walking the dogs, and for when I travel. It's portable, lightweight and virtually indestructable and isn't bothered by rain or rivers or dropping. The cone is fantastic because it creates a large lighted yellow shape that's much more easily seen by cars than an ordinary flashlight. (Hint: tie a plastic grocery sack around the flashlight and you'll have a big white glowing ball that cars can't miss!) The cone is great in tents and for late night reading because the light is so diffuse you don't get the weird shadows and glare you get from a regular flashlight or lantern. You can always take the cone off if you want a regular flashlight.

the best flashlight for camping and kids sleepovers,
By Val (West Sacramento, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Princeton Tec Sport Flare (Misc.)
We have had one of these for many years, and we are ordering more for ourselves and our kids. Ours is still working the way it did 15 years ago. The cone and the hanging strap make this ideal for a tent light. We love this and are glad to see they are still selling them. We like the way you just twist the cone to turn it on and off. Our kids love it too. We are going to order a pink cone top to interchange with our yellow one.
