Great for the money!,

Overall this is a great product! I Just took this down to 125' and it worked great there as well as for my night dive that weekend. This light was brighter than by buddies big primary light, It will work for a primary! I am not to hot about the switch, it works but the locking mechanism seems to not be as sturdy and can be unlocked if in a bag with other gear. To turn it on, the switch has to be all the way to the right which helps if the lock does come undone; good thinking. All in all if you need a light in a hurry, something that you can rely on, this is it. I needed another light for the dive and this was within my budget. I used it for the whole weekend and no battery change needed. The lanyard is a perfect length to hang from the shoulder rings of your BC.

This underwater light is super bright. I did not use it past the 5hour mark and actually wear out its batteries, so I can not speak to "how long" they last. But I did use it for at least 3 hours and it is still as bright as ever. It seriously illuminates everything underwater for some ways. Pretty unbelieveable how bright it is! Also, it is a super rugged design, so no worries about having a flimsy, easily breakable light.
Excellent lamp!

I'm very pleased with this diving light. I've used it for the first time in Corsica ~40m depth : No problems. It ls practical & light to bring with you and efficient (narrow but usable beam). The swith lock is a bit easy to unlock & free the switch but nothing serious : the switch itself never went on by its own!

Flooded at only 30 feet,

I had high hopes for this light as it was a much cheaper alternative to the UK products. The first dive I took it on it flooded at thirty feet despite being rated to 330 feet. Replacing the light with a UK light.

Bright flashlight, good size, nice switch, poor redesign (cheaper),

I would have given it 5 stars had PrincetonTec not decided to cut costs at the expense of product quality.
Good size and shape for holding while diving. The included cord is great to attach to a clip of some sort so that you don't lose it while moving around. Though I would recommend a tougher cord if you are hard on your toys. The previous model I use as my primary has the battery tray/circuit board that snaps into a notch cut out of the threads. This makes for secure fit. Very important, as the first one I received from Amazon was defective and the tray would not stay far enough back in to provide enough focused light. It created a dead spot in the center of the beam. I didn't realize it until I had left on a trip. Thankfully Amazon exchanged it for another one, which is MUCH better but still has a slight dark spot in the center of the beam where it should be brightest. If you can find an older model that has the battery tray snap in to the body, I would recommend that one wholeheartedly. If you purchase a new one, make sure the center beam is bright and does not have any dark spots or halo's. The LED model does not seem to suffer from this condition, but it could be that the two I tried were just properly made.

Almost perfect but not quite. Would still recommend.,

For the money, this is a great light. The switch is simple and intuitive and the light comes with the 8 AA batteries you need. Plus they're name-brand batteries. This isn't too big of a deal in the grand scheme of things but it gives me confidence that Princeton Tec is actually thinking about the consumer.
This is my first dive light. I've taken it down to 96ft so far without any problems. In caves and dark areas it was plenty bright. It's fairly heavy underwater so the lanyard is essential because this thing will sink to the bottom before you can blink. I secured the lanyard to a D-clip on my BC. The lanyard was long enough for the light to be maneuvered around or tucked under a strap but not so long that the light was dragging or the lanyard was in my way. Basically, perfect length for my purposes. I feel like I have to give this light 4 out of 5 stars because it failed to light on more than one occasion. Once I worked the power switch a time or two it always came on. However, I don't think I can give full marks when it failed even if it eventually worked. The mechanism stayed dry so I believe the problem is the simple switch instead of the water-sealing abilities. At most it caused a few seconds of delay and I made a point of making sure the light was on before I was in an area where a light was helpful. Not a problem, just an annoyance. Even with the infrequent failure to light, I am very pleased with my purchase. I would certainly recommend it to my friends and to you. Like I said, I just can't give out perfect marks when the product failed to conform perfectly to my expectations. |
