Where do I start? Two of us are writing this review together. One of us actually managed to finish the whole book- because she was stuck on an airplane. The other only made it to the first sex scene before bailing out. (Van made use of the barf bags on the plane.) As two working scientists, we couldn't stomach the idea that at the end, a handful of grass wins out over a gun. No matter how bad the allergy - you can't shoot a gun at her? Give me a break! And this is the guy who we're supposed to believe is capable of conquering the human race? He doesn't show any guts. I can't believe people are giving it 4 stars. Sure, it's great to make science accessible to the layman. But why does the principal investigator have to be so horny? Why is she so intent on garnering new lovers? Can't a modern, strong, assertive, intelligent woman be complete without the need for men's sexual attentions?

Principal Investigation is set to become a cult first novel with a unique twist to the female protagonist murder mystery genre.

The science is great and accurate .... and why haven't you got the second installment listed - it's called Secondary Immunization and is said to be even better than the first!

I can't agree with the earlier reviewers, who found the characters and the plot unbelievable. I thought it was extremely plausible, all too plausible. Also, I think the denouement, in which the villain is essentially hoist on his own petard, a welcome relief from the usual "blow 'em away" finale. Beyond that, the Japanese scientific community really ought to support this book since, for once, they are not portrayed as mad scientists, Asian threats, funny little quaint people, etc. No, I think Dr. Celeste Braun, who is a sexy (not oversexed) and brilliant woman, is refreshingly depicted as a character who can make mistakes, see the problem, get scared but screw up her courage and persevere. This is a terrific novel and I can't wait for the next book. B.B.Jordan gives us a new dimension for the science thriller.

Good Lord, what a bore. And I love scientific mysteries. An editor should tell author how to get off to a fast start.

Ebola seems to be as bothersome as the common cold when compared to the almost always fatal, fast spreading Eke virus. Fortunately, Harvard University medical researchers discovered Protex, a drug that immunizes people from the disease. Fukada Pharmaceuticals produces the vaccine, thereby containing the disease from reaching epidemic proportions.

Dr. Simon Phillipson, a former Harvard University researcher who was fired for stealing the works of other scientists, intends to obtain revenge on the academic community for failing to recognize his genius. Simon has biologically mutated the Eke Virus so that it is now resistant to Protex, but still can cured by Bazuran, a drug that he developed in his laboratory at Virotex. If the new strain of Eke Virus makes it way into the general population, Simon will make a fortune. He has a diabolically clever plan to do this. He blackmails Fukada to buy the rights to the new medicine so that they can continue to hold the monopoly on curing the Eke Virus. Only one person stands in Simon's way, virologist Dr. Celeste Braun. However, she has no tangible proof as to what Simon plans to do. Regardless of what it takes, Celeste intends to obtain the evidence. She intends to stop him anyway she can.

Fans of Cooke, Palmer, and Crichton will find this medical thriller to be a totally absorbing, one sitting read. The villain is more of a caricature than a character and the heroine is a bit too bright to be believable. However, the fast-paced story line, filled with fascinating scientific data, easily compensates for this shortcoming.
