basic D&D magic Kingdom, March 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Principalities of Glantri (Dungeons and Dragons Fantasy Roleplaying, Gazateer GAZ3) (Paperback)
This is a great sourcebook for the OD&D world Mystara. Glantri is a kingdom of high magic run by mages, it deals with the rulers, people and the secret magical societies that have developed in Glantri. It is a wonderful setting for D&D or other fantasy rpgs. It was based in the basic D&D rules but had conversion notes for 2nd ed. and should convert easily into 3rd with the magical secret societies working well as prestige classes with little work.

Klantyre For the Win!, August 3, 2010
This review is from: The Principalities of Glantri (Dungeons and Dragons Fantasy Roleplaying, Gazateer GAZ3) (Paperback)
The Principalities of Glantri is one of the top three of the excellent Gazetteer series. Not only does it go into enough depth about the families and personalities found in Glantri but it also includes organizations both secretive and known and the glorious Seven Secret Crafts plus on top of that, it includes the intrigues and mysteries surrounding Radiance and the Cult of Rad! What more do you need? One could spend an entire campaign right here in Glantri. Don't forget to visit Klantyre and Prince Brannart MacGregor who is slowly turning his family into undead, being a lich its just his thing. There is also a lot of talk about werewolves in New Averoigne. Most importantly dont forget to visit the capital Glantri City and the famed School of Magic! Glantri is a magic centered area and culture and for the most part will favor those types of characters. There are some weird or silly parts that deal with the history of Mystara and you are probably aware of them and, like me, choose to ignore them. Over all this is a must have for anyone that wants to incorporate a magic centered country or culture into their campaign.

The best of a good lot, December 26, 2011
This review is from: The Principalities of Glantri (Dungeons and Dragons Fantasy Roleplaying, Gazateer GAZ3) (Paperback)
This Gazetteer was the first one I bought, and the others were an anticlimax after this little gem. The best part was the emphasis given to magic users. I've always tended to play wizards, and it really sucks having to kill monsters and collect treasure (ie money) in order to accumulate experience points. What about discovering new spells? Discovering an ancient book that helps research? Well, this accessory covers this beautifully. In addition, you can play this on so many levels. You can be anything from a child growing up in Glantri and going to the school of magic (which is something of a Harry Potter theme), a noble playing political games, a thief profiting from the political intrigues, or an undercover cleric or dwarf. Finally, the different principalites are loosely based on European countries (New Averoigne is France, for example), which are all centred around Glantri City - Mystara's answer to renaissance Florence. This gives the region a wonderful atmosphere. Simply put, a gem.
