Book Description

March 15, 2012
Prior to 1776, world history was primarily written about kings and emperors. The American experiment shook the world. Not only did the colonies break away from the biggest and most powerful empire in history, but they also took the musings of the brightest thinkers of the Enlightenment and implemented them. The founding of the United States was simultaneously an armed rebellion against tyranny and a revolution of ideas -- ideas that changed the course of world history.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"There is no more important time in our present times to learn the how and why of the founding of our great republic. This highly readable book is a very good place to start." Alan Caruba at Bookviews

"It provides an excellent analysis of the American Founding and what made it unique.  However, it also provides considerable insight into the motivations of the current grass-roots movement for a return to constitutionalism." Martin Sielaff, What Would The Founders Think?

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Principled Action August 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Principled Action does an excellent job of explaining the intellectual framework of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The book is easily read and understood and it provides numerous insights into the thinking and environment at the time of the founding. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the principles used to establish our way of government.

5.0 out of 5 stars Principled Action December 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a fascinating account of the founding of our government, and the men who worked tirelessly to draw up our constitution. They envisioned a government that would not only be relevant for them, but for all Americans throughout the history of this great country. The message is clear...we fought hard for our freedom. We must be vigilant and never let anyone change what is fundamental about our nation, the fact that we are free because we govern ourselves.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT a "history" book June 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I found this book under the Amazon category of "History", but it is clearly not a history book; it is a political book. Consider this quote from the book:

"Some politicians today seem to violate or ignore the Constitution when it gets in the way of what they want to do. Worse, some would surreptitiously undermine key principles of our government to impose their will on our citizens. We must stop--and then reverse-- this erosion of constitutional principles, ..."

That simply is NOT history, or even an attempt to write history. Fortunately I got the Kindle edition of the book which cost me nothing, so I certainly cannot complain that I was "ripped off", but it is disappointing to begin reading a book that you hope will provide insight into an important historical period, only to find yourself lectured to about the current members of congress and how you should behave.
