Amazing Man, Great Biography,
This review is from: The Principled Politician: Governor Ralph Carr and the Fight against Japanese American Internment (Paperback)
Below is what I wrote for the hardback, and I have to say that this book has stayed with me, I think of it often.
This is a great biography of a really remarkable man. With benefit of hindsight, it's so easy for us to be so critical of those who made bad choices during a time of war, and alternately slightly degrade those who made the right choices because they seem so obvious now. This book makes it clear just how high the price was for standing on principle in that era. This is a great first book. I hope he writes more and I hope this one gets turned into a movie! |
