During the 16 years that I have taught Financial Auditing at the university level I have been constantly on the lookout for the best available book. I chose Whittington & Pany because (1) it is succinct, (2) it presents auditing concepts clearly (although the authors do sugar coat the accounting scandals of the past 20 years and fail to give credit where credit is due by naming the firms involved in them), (3) the page layout is attractive and easy to read, and most importantly (4) my students preferred it over other texts (one student told me that she chose my class after looking through the assigned texts for all of the Auditing sections, an excellent idea).

The current (15th ed.) has been brought up to date with a limited discussion of Sarbanes-Oxley and the PCAOB.

The material is obviously dry, but I found that it was possible to make my classes more interesting by incorporating newspaper accounts of the more egregious audit failures in the assigned readings, and by being honest about the arrogance, greed and stupidity that are all too typical of the accounting profession today. This practice has brought complaints by the local offices of the major firms, to which my department head replied that they are welcome to come speak to the classes to explain their side of the story. To date, they have not accepted the invitation.

Well written and easy to understand. This book boils down a complex topic and makes it understandable. While a couple of sections need to be read a few times, overall this is a good book.

I would like this book because it's full of useful information, but it has this stiff CD case inside the front cover which sticks up and makes it impossible to keep the book open until you're 1/4+ the way into the book. Ugh.

The book is all over the place. It is a very hard read. The previous text was clearly written better. I'm not sure why the author decided to change the style of the text.

One of the most over priced books I have ever purchased. I always avoid international versions because they are the ones driving up the prices on textbooks. I have always felt this is unfair because the people who create the books are just trying to make a living and offer us something useful to learn from. So I have always advocated buying the US versions. Well, I feel like I got ripped a new one here. I paid way way more than the value the book offered me. This book needs to be rewritten very badly. If you must buy it, please stick it to the publishers and the author, and buy the international version.

the author fail to connect concepts and I found it is confusing that the concepts is not introduce in order rather spread through out the book.

not really helpful and need often time, jump back and forth between the chapters.

I bought the book from amazon so i thought it with the super saver shipping but they did not tell me that it would take 3 days to process the purchase. After the process it took about 3-4 days to get to me. Over all the book is pretty helpful because my teacher lectures word for word out of time. Though the sentences can be hard to read because they like to have "but" or "however" is every sentence.

I received the book on time and in the expected condition, along with the included CD. Everything looks good so no complaints.
