5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy if you want to really understand cardiopulmonary exercise testing and do it in your office, July 5, 2010

This review is from: Principles of Exercise Testing and Interpretation: Including Pathophysiology and Clinical Applications (Hardcover)
I am a cardiologist in private practice in the Chicago area. Our group has added CPET ( cardiopulmonary exercise testing) into our practice. MET-TEST([...]) and Dr. Sundeep Chaudry an expert in the field has made this possible. It has tremendously added to our revenue and has allowed us to provide very physiologic information on our patients not possible with any other type of stress testing. Once we started I wanted a resource that could walk me through the physiology of the test so I could get the most out of the results and this book was suggested. It is spectacular, I think, for anyone thinking about doing the test or who is currently doing them and has not had formal training. It is beautifully written and starts with the basics. For someone who wants to go deeply into the physiology of exercise chapters 2-3 have it. But for the clinician wanting to understand what it means and how to use it I would recommend starting with chapter One a wonderful overview and then going directly to chapter four which explains what is measured and how to interpret the test. I highly recommend this book and highly recommend MET- TEST in order to implement this type of testing into your practice. I would also just add that I have no financial incentives or relationship with MET-TEST. One small note the first book I received had the last 70 pages of the book upside down and backwords. Good old Amazon had a new book to me the next day before we even sent back the flawed book !!!! Thanks Amazon.

Very good, In-Depth book on CPET. Specially on diagnosis using this (CPX) testing method . You will need a good back ground to take full advantage of the information on this book. Been used extensively for class and as reference during my doctoral studies.
