Book Description

March 1994 156593296X 978-1565932968
Hearing aid audiologists require a firm basis of theory as will as practice in order to become fully registered under the Hearing Aid Act of 1984. This book covers the Hearing Aid Council examination syllabus, introduces aspects of hearing aid audiology, and lays the theoretical foundations and then applies this theory to current practice. Divided into three parts, Part one provides an introduction to the basic sciences which underpin hearing aid audiology. Part two is devoted to the practice of audiology with and emphasis on audiometry, otoscopy, hearing aid selection and evaluation, and rehabilitation. Part three considers the management of specialized problems, including tinnitus and diagnostic audiometry, and introduces paediatric audiometry.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

There have been many changes and developments since the publication of the first edition of Principles of Hearing Aid Audiology. The text of the second edition has been updated and extended throughout to reflect these changes, including the important changes to the Hearing Aid Council regulations and in British Standards. New tests, new prescriptive algorithms, developments in our understanding of how the cochlea works, open jaw impressions - all these new areas are now included. There is also a complete new chapter on digital hearing aids. Principles of Hearing Aid Audiology continues to be the one book which provides comprehensive and up-to-date material on hearing aid audiology for those in training or who wish to revise and update their knowledge. It is a book that is both readable and relevant. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
