Limited amount of good information,

This review is from: Principles of Information Security (Paperback)
This book does provide a broad overview of the concepts of information security. Whatever good information this book does provide is, to some extent, offset by three problems: First, the book is filled with many, many typographical errors. While reading the book, I constantly found myself going back and trying to determine what the writer meant by many of the mangled sentences (or pieces of sentences) in the book. Second, there are a few errors in information. Finally, there are areas where important explanations or details about concepts are completely omitted. The writers needed to do some additional work and editing to make the book's portrayal of many of the concepts it covers clearer and more comprehensive.
There are plenty of free online resources (NIST's Computer Security Resource Center, for example) that would be better places to learn about information security than this text.

Principles of Information Security
I purchased this text book for a college course. Thus far, the book is very comprehensive on all topics, and I saved $25 under the college bookstore price not including free Prime shipping.

Makes everything easy to understand. It is a Principles books, so do not expect it to go too deep into topics. For beginners or people looking for a nice overview of the security field, this book is a good choice.

This is solid introductory text to the field of information security. it is not a comprehensive encyclopedia of everything there is to know about info. sec. It only covers higher levels of abstraction (if I can use that term) on the topics. For instance you will learn many new and important keywords and concepts, but not in comprehensive way. It gives you nice overall survey of the issues in info.sec. but obviously, to know more about any particular subject you will need to drill down somewhere else. And this is not problematic, because if the scope of this book is to be introductory, then it accomplishes it's goal.
On the negative side, first chapters on legalities are rather boring.

This book was a great resource supplement for my Security Methods and Practices class. It gave an awesome breakdown of information security and what it entails. If you're a newbie to information security, I highly recommend this book.

The book arrived promptly and in great condition. I would purchase from this user/company again. I am a student looking for deals and theirs was great while still keeping quality.
