This is an introduction text to business IT. It presents at least a page or two on most issues. It will give the neophyte a broad overview but has insufficient information to allow the reader to make strategic and tactical IT business decisions. It has errors and is often lacks balance when approaching many concepts i.e.; the authors could have applied more critical faculty and less "ra-ra" booster-ism. Parts are pretty out-of-date, even for an IT book.

The most frustrating part is the abstract presentation and artificial distinction of many IT business concepts (knowledge systems, decision support systems, expert systems, business intelligence) with poor or no examples. E.g; the authors are talking about business intelligence in lofty terms but in the example it's just the application of statistical analysis with SPSS. You come away not sure what application should be used for what business function, and how these applications may be different from one another other than being from different vendors.

I did pick up new information and a few pearls of wisdom, and followed up on them. But the serious student will have to dig-deeper/take-more-courses to learn best business IT practices.

The access code to cengagebrain cost $150, so I guess I should have known better. It did come with an access card but it only lets you use the ebook function of the website. Hello? I have the book. Why would I need that?

HOLY CHRIST this is overpriced. A book that serves as a basic overview of Information Technology has no business being priced this high. You can find amazing books on subjects that will directly earn you money for a quarter of this cost.

Instructors: Want your students to hate you? Want to get bad reviews? Make us buy books that cost 200 dollars and that's exactly what you'll receive.

It's informational, has only a page or two for most information systems concepts. But it was a textbook for college, so how awesome can it be huh? I didn't like the surface level attention the topics got. But I suppose it served its purpose for the intro to information systems course I was taking.

The book is well detailed and provides lots of illustrations and other content. Be aware there are two versions, with and without the supplemental DVD and Key. Book is best described as a high-level overview of technology concepts within business (e.g. Cloud Computing, E-Commerce, etc...). This was a required book for my Master program, which in this context made it feel a bit rudimentary for the purpose in which it was used. If you are buying this as a textbook, no need to highlight or otherwise mark this book based on content.

I would recommend this product to anyone interested in computer science because it is easy to read and I judge it to be a requirement in this field. I am happy because it is my textbook for my class and it is easy to read. I received it in two days with Amazon Prime. It is a great price for a hardback.
