4.0 out of 5 stars Psychiatric Nursing
This is a great textbook. Very informative without being boring. Includes personal reports from patients, families, and experienced nurses. Each chapter concludes with a short quiz to help focus on the main points. Includes assessment tools such as the Mini Mental Status Exam. Perfect for beginners. This book is a refreshing balance of educational and enjoyable...

2.0 out of 5 stars not very good
This book seems like a lot of BS. I got an A and I hardly used it. The stories written by actual nurses are long and boring and the patients described don't seem to have improved much. As it says on p. 191, "In fact, very few well-designed psychiatric nursing studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of psychiatric nursing care."

4.0 out of 5 stars Principles and Practice of Psychiatric Nursing, October 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Clearly presented material in an organized manner. Examples of Communication techniques and Care Plan options are useful for students. Medication information can be found in chapters covering the diagnosis (ie: antidepressants and mood stabilizers in Mood Disorder chapter) as well as the chapter on Psychopharmacology.

2.0 out of 5 stars water damage, August 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The item I was not happy with considering the book was posted as "new". This book had clear water damage. No highlighting, but the manufacturer should let the customer know there is damage and sell the book for less. Not pleased with my book considering I am a student who values every dollar spent.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you're looking for a good psych nursing textbook, look somewhere else., January 3, 2007

This is the most pathetic psychiatric nursing textbook I have seen. The information is not at all applicable or useful, and it is really hard to read because it jumps around and doesn't seem to provide relevent information.
