5.0 out of 5 stars State of the Art Manual for Sleep Medicine, May 15, 2000
By A Customer
Up to date, fully comprehensive text book on the science and practice of sleep medicine. Thorough discussions of physiology, behavioral aspects of normal sleep and disordered sleep. This is the gold standard for learning, reviewing or referencing in this field.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book!, November 16, 2000
By A Customer
This should be required reading for anyone medical professional working in the field of sleep medicine. Every clinical topic is covered in great detail and clarity. The drawback of this book (if any) is the "Methodology" section, which, for the most part, covers acquisition topics on a very shallow level. Also, don't expect to learn much from the last chapter, "Computers in Sleep Medicine". It covers six pages of nothing (those poor trees). Otherwise this book is 1301 pages of pure gold!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR ALL SLEEP MEDICINE PRACTITIONERS, August 10, 2005
It explores all aspects of sleep medicine, including new information on geriatric patients.
I did however liked the MSLT chapter better in the previous edition. Still can't put it down!.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile reference, October 30, 2007
Purchase this book if you need in-depth knowledge in the area of sleep medicine. Online access to the book and periodic updates are a good idea and are available with one version of the book. There have been a significant number of updates over the last two years. There is additional information on the web site beside the text. Some can be found elsewhere, e.g., practice parameters from the AASM, but it is nice to see it gathered in one place. One disappointment is the Atlas of Sleep Breathing Disorders of which half of the pictures and graphs haven't shown (broken links) for months. The Pocket Consult (ne MobiPocket Reader, which is included as a download) is useful and allows downloading text excerpts (no tables or graphs) from the book to a PDA for reference on the road. Addendum -- if you click on the Printer Friendly tab while in the Atlas of Sleep Breathing Disorders it will bring up a second window with the pictures and graphs where they should be.

This was one of the most essential books I found when studying and passing my Sleep Registry for the first time. Although it was just one of many study materials used, it was a must have for the updated and extent of information it provided.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide book for sleep specialists, June 2, 2000
The book was edited by Kryger and Dement et al. They are frontiers of this new field of medical science. It is very regretful thing that most people do not have sufficient information about sleep disorders. Despite of deficiency of knowledge about sleep disorders, those are killing numerous victims all over the world. So I recommend this book to reduce avoidable deaths of precious lives.
